Earlier today, we reported on a sticker that had been used to conceal an online play logo on limited edition copies of No Man's Sky. Sony has since put out a statement explaining that this wasn't due to any changes to the game – it just f**ked up during production, and decided to print stickers rather than re-manufacture the packaging.
"Incorrect descriptors were incorporated into the original No Man's Sky limited edition packaging," a spokesperson said. "This was a production issue and was rectified using placement stickers." It makes sense, but this story honestly couldn't have broken at a worse time; Hello Games is underfire right now for insinuating that the title may feature online functionality which doesn't appear to exist.

Sorry, not buying that excuse. Having a color be wrong is a mistake, spelling something wrong is a mistake, having it say "online" then covering that up isn't a mistake, it's a decision.
@rjejr To be fair, they printed the wrong age rating, too.
@rjejr You're not buying the game because of a sticker?
Lies, sony, lies...
@eightdotthree @rjejr I think he isn't buying the excuse.
Considering that this was on the limited edition versions then it probably was an error.
@darkswabber That makes so much more sense now lol, thanks!
@eightdotthree No, what the other guy said, I'll be geting the game, I don't play online anyway.
Though since Sammy corrected me and they did also change the age rating then I suppose the guy did speak the truth, "Incorrect descriptors", but I still think online or no online isn't the same as a typo. How many games have come out on PS3 and PS4 over the past 10 years and have had "online" covered up w/ a sticker?
I edited it though.
@Kidfried
Agreed - they probably have a dozen of these box arts for different languages, regions, and in this case, limited editions, and humans being humans, a mistake occurred.
The last thing people paying a premium price tag want is either mistakes or manufacturing delays, yet obviously people are going to prefer the former over the latter, so they can at least play the game on launch day.
Simple mistake, could have (and has) happened to other games as well. Bad timing, though!
Of all mistakes, they made the controversial "Online" one...
I hope the mistake maker able to sleep... XD
Should make those limited editions printed incorrectly valuable in a few years time lol
Meanwhile I'm enjoying the game lol
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Same here...People are hating on things that i can't understand lol
Loving the game and would many people of even noticed?!......
It s not on mine, bought in Switzerland. Could be just a typo..
I am enjoying the game a lot, despite all the s**tstorm...
For those that are skeptical, look closer at the box. It says it all that the error is on the part of the PEGI rating area, not anywhere else. They haven't stated anywhere else on the box that it's multiplayer - if you look at the bottom left corner, the Sony T&Cs blurb has a set of icons above it. One of them labels NMS as a singleplayer game. This is a production gaffe, where the wrong ESRB info has been used. It happens and chances are it wasn't picked up until boxes were in production. And it's never, ever a case of 'well just print new ones' - the production schedule doesn't work like that.
That doesn't excuse HG of failing to be clear about the issue, but as far as the box 'error' goes, it's a complete non-story that's been blown out of proportion.
Yup, simple mistake. Made years ago....by Sean Murray...on video
All kidding aside, it makes sense.
