The Elder Scrolls VI will be revealed when it's ready to release, Bethesda's Pete Hines has told PC Gamer. "You're not going to be hearing first details on [Elder Scrolls VI] years before the game comes out, absolutely not," Hines insists.
Of course, this is nothing new for the studio. When head honcho Todd Howard first revealed The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the announcement trailer came with a release date at the end of it. Likewise, when the company finally unveiled Fallout 4 after years of rumours and speculation, it whipped out a launch date at E3 in the very same month. As far as we're concerned, this is the way that it should be done - and yes, we're looking at you, Final Fantasy XV.
All that we know about The Elder Scrolls VI right now is that it's in development, but if you're eager to get your hands on some Elder Scrolls action, it's worth remembering that the Skyrim remaster is out on PS4 in October.
When do you think we'll hear about the next game? 2017? 2018? Place your bets in the comments section below.

I love that they do this. It makes getting the game more exciting when it happens because you're still on that wave of euphoria from the announcement trailer.
Can't WAIT for October. I've been saying for years "just let me play Skyrim on my PS4 with a new trophy list so I can start it all over again."

Cue the moment Kotaku try and leak it and then complain that they're blacklisted... again.
Too bad that even once it's ready, it'll only barely be ready because it's a Bethesda game, so it'll be a glitchy, gross looking, bug ridden mess that will still be hailed by reviewers and fans for no reason other than...well, frankly, I don't know.
this is the right attitude though. I can't stand when a developer releases all these game videos or even announcement of said game only to be told it won't be out until like 2 years later. By that time, I'm just flat out sick of hearing about the game and most likely have grown bored of it.
Only Final Fantasy XV? What about Mass Effect Andromeda? We haven't seen a single gameplay video. I mean, official, from the game. Nothing, nada. No 1-2 sec montage, no split second frame before character is mauled by monster. I'm talking about regular, plain gameplay.
@Nickolaidas I think the final fantasy xv reference was because of a ten year wait. Only for a rumor to pop up that it might be delayed ANOTHER two months. That just happened last night, so it is fresh in everyone's mind.
@Nickolaidas yeah, when I hear a game being announced and it's a game I'm looking forward, too, my hype meter sky rockets, but when they show stupid crap like non-gameplay videos and announcements that are way to long, my hype meter crashes and disappears.
that's another thing, I want to see real gameplay in action of someone even a developer actually playing the game, even if you can't see the guy playing it, what's on screen should be what I see when I'm playing.
This is the right way to tease and release a game. No three year wait, no crushing disappointment.
You can pretty much take this as an announcement. Fallout 4 DLC is coming to a close and they aren't working on nothing. They will officially announce it close to release but they're working on it now, 1000%
One of the many reasons to love Bethesda.
