Those BioWare Twitter teases weren't for nothing, it would seem. As hinted, Mass Effect: Andromeda was indeed shown during Sony's PlayStation Meeting - and it was running on the newly announced PlayStation 4 Pro. This trailer is the first time that we've seen real, near-finished gameplay of the 2017 title, and it's looking reasonably promising.
The video itself sees main character Ryder exploring some sort of alien structure. There's a bit of platforming and investigating, and then there's a cutscenes which shows an Asari squad member. Sure, it's little bit janky, but this is a BioWare game after all. Hopefully we get to see more of Andromeda before the year's out.

That may look brilliant (anyone on a 4k screen how did it look?) but that section was 100% not what I personally wanted from our first look at ME4. Rocket boosting and a linear path. Woo hoo. NOT! That acting too. Boooooo.
Yeah, I think this was a sloppy gameplay reveal. Narrative is the series' claim to fame, so I'd rather see some kind of cutscene instead of....PLATFORMING. And I hope you can dress that Asari up to wear actual armor like in the first game, and have your human keep his helmet on, since they're in, y'know...OUTER SPACE.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing more.
I agree, don't mind a bit of time platforming but in mass effect??? Couldn't really see much difference as ain't got 4k TV like most people lol
It does look smoother the way not Shepard moves, like it was in DA:I. It was a strange part to show, it's like they chose it for the lighting and graphics more than gameplay, at least it wasn't a turret section, though. I would've like to have seen some adept powers on show or something.
That level reminded me of the collector base from ME2.
Yeah, a pretty underwhelming showing after all this time. BioWare really needs to take animation more seriously - if Andromeda is still using canned Mass Effect 2/3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition character animations, I'll be seriously disappointed.
@ShogunRok After The Witcher III no RPG should be spared!!!
No way this releases early 2017. They're only giving us a "glimpse" and the year's almost over?
Watch. Feb they announce ME4 releases Octobter 2017. And in August they announce a delay to March 2018. @rjejr do you concur?
@JaxonH Man, you've had a long day huh? It was nuts over there today.
If you are asking me if I think a big AAA game will get delayed? Yes, yes it will. If 2 app games can be delayed, anything can be delayed. (OK, I actually read your comment, the better to reply, and you nailed it. Well done.)
But for delays to even register now a company first has to have a live 90 minute event to announce the release date, then delay it months after that. (That's a FF dig, not Zelda, I'm so over the Zelda delay at this point. Now I just hope Nintendo doesn't decide Wii U isn't powerful enough to run it.)
Ok, sorry so down, just worn out, next time you summon me I'm just going to post this pic.
But since we'ere both here, any interest in the Pro? I know you don't have a 4k tv, but you might like a bigger HDD or the extra GPU flops. I'm guessing you save your cash for NX though. I still need a PS4 for Christmas, will be weighing my options Black Friday looking at game bundles.
@rjejr
Negative.
PSVR $500
NX $400
Switching game collection to X1 $650
Even Daddy Warbucks is saying enough is enough.
"Bigger HDD"
Haha good one, that 1TB will be a huge upgrade from my maxed out 2TB drive We need 4-6TB models and they come with 1TB, as if that's some kind of solution to the issue. I maxed 1TB in my first 12 months.
I'm a relatively easy going gamer, don't really complain about much. But one pet peeve of mine is limited storage capacity. I'm literally begging to buy more PS4 and Vita games and they won't accommodate me. I own all 3 consoles and both handhelds and the only 2 I have this issue with is... PS4 and Vita. I gave up, I did. I bought a 4TB external for X1, and I'm selling off 30 of my PS4 multiplat games to help fund purchasing those games on Xbox and clear space on my PS4. From now on, instead of PS4 being my "go-to" console, it'll be X1. PS4 will be for exclusives only, just like Wii U. But with VR coming and patches for all the games to be "PS Pro compatible" I wouldn't be shocked if I still run out again before then gen is over.
But it's a great option if you don't own one yet. Xbox One S is too, which I also chose to skip. I did order a custom controller though. Just shipped.
Clip was a bit rubbish, wooden faces poor lip sync. Will still pick it up.
This footage was just a graphical showcase of the PS4 Pro, no detailed gameplay whatsoever. Hopefully we'll see more on N7 day. Just read that it'll run at 30 FPS, same as standard PS4. What?

Geez that cut scene at the end looked lame.
@JaxonH "Switching game collection to X1 $650"
Can't you just work some of your Bionic Wii U magic on the Xbox?
Funny, never thought about it until you said you skipped it, but the X1S really looked nice to me, but I suppose for somebody who already had an X1 there really wasn't much benefit, it really was just a remodel, more improved than new like Pro. Though even that got an ultra drive. New expensive build-a-bear controllers are really nice.
As always I'm on the fence between Slim and Pro. I know Pro has more power, but I'm not paying $100 more b/c I don't have an HDR or 4k TV. It's going to come down to value for me. $299 solo Slim isn't worth as much as say $399 Pro w/ FFXV included. $299 Slim w/ FFXV and I'm done thinking, I'm buying. Nothing before BF though, I recall $299 PS4 w/ Uncharted Trilogy last year, so I'm also looking for an U4 bundle, still haven't played it yet obviously.
No X1S though, don't think it has a single game I'm interested in, that I can't get on PS4. And NX is coming. Someday. I think. You think that 3DS game is Pikmin 4? I'm torn, I dont think it is, but I'm a negative person, so I think it is. It matters, b/c it's my #2 game on my NX wish list. Mario Galaxy 3 or some such, Pikmin 4, Luig's Mansion 3, Kid Icarus Uprising 2 w/ an HD port of the first. I have Wii U for Zelda Wild, and we already own MK8 and SSB, don't need ports.
Why does that environment look so much like the last level of mass effect 2?
