Sony's Tokyo Game Show 2016 press conference played host to a rather ominous new trailer for NieR: Automata, which features garbled speech and a load of numbers. It's not all that exciting, truth be told, but it at least gives us a confirmed Japanese release date.
Platinum's stylish action title will launch on the 23rd February 2017 in the Land of the Rising Sun, and we assume that an official Western date can't be too far away from that. Here's hoping that Square Enix shares a little more info in the near future.

Well, Platinum games are always a big hit or a big miss, so I'll await for reviews
Is that the release date for the first delay, or the "tentative" release date which will be delayed two weeks before release because they didn't do enough QA?
I actually really dug this trailer. I loved the sense of mystery you get from it, but the tone of the game's direction carries across really well. It's looking like it'll be quite dark with a sense of gravitas in a sci-fi dystopia. And I love the numbers running at the bottom to reveal the release date.
And that music, awesome. This is coming from someone who knows next to nothing about Nier or Drakengard.
