Days Gone, the new apocalyptic property from Sony Bend, is shaping up to be one of the poster childs for the upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro – and Eurogamer.net's managed to get its hands on a brand new batch of screenshots to support that. These images show the title running in its checkerboard 4K format, and frankly, it just looks sumptuous.
It's worth remembering that even if you don't have a 4K television, you'll benefit from the PS4 Pro, as supersampling will ensure that the image looks outrageously clean at 1080p. It's awe-inspiring stuff; we can't wait to see how the likes of God of War and Spider-Man perform on Sony's spangly new piece of hardware.

Worth mentioning as well that ONE person is working on the PS4 Pro version.
@get2sammyb but he's a PRO !
I thought the game looked incredible running on a PS4 at E3 but this is on another level! With HDR too this will be mind-blowingly stunning! I saw a video in which someone had seen a native 4k image and the checkerboard version side by side and couldn't tell the difference until they got very close (within 6"). They also said the difference between the PS4 and Pro versions were instantly obvious.
I can't wait!! Less than 3weeks to go now until the Pro arrives and wish this game was launching with it!
Ya, I haven't seen any game bundles yet for the pro, looking like I'll have to cave in and get it w/o a bundle.
Hoping there will be a Horizon bundle. Will probably jump in at that point.
Looks great, but still not a big enough leap to spend that kind of money. As long as new games don't get glitchy on older PS4s I don't see the need to upgrade. If I had extra money to spend I would go VR, but even that is more rent for a weekend kind of thing. So far.
I think this will become an issue companies will just end up showing the games in their Pro version. They are never going to want to show the original PS4 game footage.
@elodin I was in Game yesterday and was talking to the staff about PSVR and they said the customers who had pre-order for it were picking it up then going straight to CEX to sell it. At one point CEX were paying £420 cash for the device now its £390.
Nice, can't wait for my pro to arrive, I hope next year I have the budget to buy a good 4k hdr tv.
Doesn't look as pretty as yesterday's Read Dead vid, in my opinion.
Still complaining about witcher 3 not getting a pro patch i see. I can always tell when it's a sam article by the title, throwing out phrases like "x title looks amazing on pro" and then seeing a backhanded comment on how many people it takes to make pro patch.
@ApostateMage Red dead trailer was on the Pro also all those sceptics are now seeing the real benefits. Days gone, Horizon, Red dead just look breathtaking best looking games I have ever seen. Also want to see how PSVR looks on th Pro we know it's a big improvement that's why the Pro was released.
@dryrain, elodin, Don't know where you live mate but I live in Birmingham and my Bro works at Game and he said the Pre orders for the PSVR are so high the company are begging Sony for more with a huge shipment expected in December. It's a fact you can't go into any store and get a Pro they are sold out everywhere. And not seen a single one in CEX and here we have one of the biggest shops in the UK.
My most anticipated game. I just hope the game play is as good as the visuals.
@Napples But it does look amazing and it is only being worked on by one person.
@get2sammyb That is impressive and makes the lack of backwards PS4 Pro support from other major developers even more bewildering.
@GBMatthew I can understand third-parties not wanting to commit support for older games. Upcoming releases should all take advantage of it, though, if it's as easy as Sony says.
1.God of war.2.nioh.3.days gone are my 3 most anticipated ps4 exclusive games.word up
@aric201812 Yeah, I'm going to wait for a Horizon or Days Gone bundle too. Not interested in it for 4K etc, but for the extra 'oomph' for increased draw distance, more 'filled' world's, etc.
This is one of the exclusives that's tempting me buying a PS4 Pro but I don't know if it's worth it yet, not that many games coming out for it. Plus I'm getting the Scorpio next year.
@get2sammyb
I heard several Wii U ports of AAA games were done by like 4 people though. And that wasn't an easy system to port to either.
One person can be a lot, especially if it's like a six-month job for that one person. Just sayin. There's not really much incentive these developers have to go upgrade the backlog.
I'm not buying a 4k tv until my current tv dies, and I'm not buying a ps4 pro until my current ps4 dies, also not buying another dog until my current one dies.
@sonicmeerkat LOL solid philosophy, sir!
@MaccaMUFC Every new ps4 game must have ps4 pro support so I think it will have plenty of support.
@get2sammyb Well, all it takes is just some different settings and that's all. The game is probably downscaled for PS4 anyway, so this version requires a bit less downscaling.
Anyway, the marketing will be strange from now on, will we ever get to see how this looks on a regular PS4? Cause that's what I'm playing on, and I'd like to know how that looks as well.
@Octane The E3 demo was on standard PS4.
@get2sammyb really? is that insider info? lol
