You know that brand of magazine that typically gets sold on high streets. Well, this edition of WAYP carries the opposite name to that. The thing is, for the first time in 147 weeks, your editor forgot to contact the team about this weekly feature. And thus, only two entries have been submitted β one of them coming from your embarrassed host. To be fair, almost three years running this feature weekly without fail is a good track record.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I want to play through The Last Guardian a second time. I rarely do this, but Fumito Ueda's fairy tale has quickly become one of my favourites, and there are certain sections that I simply want to experience again.
Victor Nowogurski, Moderator
This weekend I will be playing Heroes of the Storm and a second play through of Journey.
Told you it was the shortest issue ever. But that's okay: you can just make up for it in the comments section. Let's make this simultaneously the biggest edition ever by smashing 100 replies, eh?

Forgive me!
You shall be forgiven π i eill be playing some overwatch, got the game yesterday and i still havent really understood the heroes, kind of hard not to get killed π if someone wants to had me to help me, please do, my nickname is Sarasilva7 i could use some hints π
Final Fantasy 15 and Red Faction for me, off to the arcades tonight though so undoubtably some TIme Crises 2 and whatever else
@Get2sammyb Well, since I was so rudely overlooked (I joke, of course) to post my game this week, both The Last Guardian AND Final Fantasy XV will be fighting for my attention this weekend. What a time to be alive!
@Jake3103 Who thought this day would come?
Sammy I'm only just at the start of The Last Guardian, and I'm already in love with it in many ways, but am extremely irked by what seems to be a remarkable oversight: the basic hints that appear very large in size on screen seem to constantly repeat, even for things like jump or crouch when you've learned these things the first time of asking. It's breaking my immersion somewhat and there is no option to turn them off - have I missed something or is this something you think will get patched?
@get2sammyb I know, it's really quite surreal. And then, after all this time, both games come out within weeks of each other. I feel like I'm dreaming when I put them in my PS4. There was a moment when I thought they wouldn't come at all.
Playing the last guardian until I finished it.
@daveyboyps101 There's no option right now, but I'm pretty confident they're going to patch that in. I agree, it's a bit much.
@get2sammyb
At the very least, you are the last of the 3 sites to keep ths feature alive. Or the last of the two, I still miss PureXbox and they never failed to post this feature.
Anyway, I am in the last stretch of Rayman Legends. I beat the game already but I want to get all 700 teensies, currently at 624. Will probably come back to Overwatch, as I enjoyed my time with it last week. Also playing through Ape Escape 2 and its lovable brit dub. Still getting used to jump by using R1, though.
To be honest I have no idea what to play. I got platinum at FF XV and now I don't have any other story based game, so probably will spend my time with some online on different games.
Ah, whoops! Guess I'll post here instead!
I'm currently in the process of reviewing a game called The Little Acre (review will be up next week), and aside from that I'm getting to grips with the rather excellent Invisible Inc. Well worth trying! I've yet to download Stories from PS Plus but I've seen good reports about that game too
I've just finished the fantastic XCOM 2, I think I'll need to bump it up into my top 3 games of the year. I'm also playing P4G again whilst I wait for Persona 5. I think I'll romance Rise this time.
@sinalefa Do Nintendo Life not do it anymore?
With the announcement of The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+, I'll be returning to the game in the hope of unlocking everything. Other than that a bit of Smite, Overwatch and Rocket League will take up the rest of my weekend.
JRPG overload.
PS4: Final Fantasy XV, The Last Guardian
PS Vita: World of Final Fantasy
PSVR has to sit on the shelf another weekend unfortunately, but I'm going to try and get some in next weekend, so stay tuned.
World of Final Fantasy is made for the vita. Really enjoy it, although some boss battles are challenging.
This year is closing out nicely for me.
The Last Guardian and I might try out Let it Die π€
@get2sammyb
I can't even recall when they last did, so it has been ages. I know you don't love these but I appreciate you are still in charge, even if brief.
@get2sammyb I will be honest, I almost forgot too which is why mine was so short. My days off from my job have been screwy lately that I forget what day it is and before I know it the weekend is here.
Rise of the Tomb Raider - The best looking game I have played on the PS4 Pro so far.
Let It Die - Has surpassed Warframe as my favorite F2P game.
I watched a video of the last guardian, and good god it looks infuriating. It was basically 7 minutes of watching the dogbird be a d"ck! I'm all for advanced AI, but it almost looks like it reaches trolling at some points. I know they won't change it, as it would change the fundamentals of the entire game, but man i could see myself getting tired of it quickly.
Oh, playing Witcher 3 and Forza 3 this weekend.
I'll playing a session of Dark Heresy, Let it Die, Overwatch, and some Final Fantasy XV.
Battlefield 1, The Last of Us, and Naruto Ninja Storm 4
Motorstorm, Tekken, Crash 3, with some Red Dead and Batman Arkham Asylum thrown in for some variety. It got cold here over the week though, I dunno if my chilly fingers can work a controller.
The Last Guardian
Invisible Inc
@sinalefa @get2sammyb
Yeah, I really don't understand why Nintendo Life doesn't have this article every weekend anymore. I'm glad this site still does it, and I miss PureXbox too.
Anyways, I'll be playing some fighting games on PS4. Street Fighter V, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and King of Fighters 14. Maybe Dead Rising 3 on Xbox One. Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter 4 on 3DS.
Playing Just Dance 2016 (need to get most trophies before getting 2017), and Letter Quest Remastered which more fun than I expected. Thanks ps+ !
Final Fantasy 15 & Titanfall 2.
@get2sammyb Nintendolife doesn't do a WAYP, not anymore at least.
This weekly article is always my favorite...I enjoy reading what everyone is playing, and it's a great way to get the community involved.
I started to go through my backlog of games, and realized I never played Red Dead Redemption. OMG...this game is fantastic!
Will be spending more time with Bildrick this weekend as I have neglected Dragon Quest Builders this week in favour of finishing the excellent campaign of Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare.
I'll also be playing some psvr,FFXV and um..Colour Guardians!
@get2sammyb ever since I joined this site I look forward to your Saturday WAYP article every week so I forgive you...just don't let it happen again
Just finished Axiom Verge. Fantastic game. Will be moving on to my PS4 version of Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero next.
The Last Guardian, and it's amazing so far!
I took a little break from The Witcher 3, but I'm hoping to wrap that game up soon too. And Paper Mario's also laying in some forgotten corner, need to get back to that as well. We'll see how much of that happens this weekend, but I do know that I'll be playing TLG until I've finished it.
Not sure how much time I will get but got Minervas Den to go through on Bioshock 2 that I never played and might return to Fez on the vita and try to remember where I got to.
I don't know why but my last comment is not here! So first of all, I can't believe that you forgot xD funny!
I want to rush plat from Stories! Excelent game!
BF1 for me
@sinalefa hey! Add me as a overwatch friend, i just bought the game, i want someone to play with π
I'm replaying Alien Isolation, trying to get the no deaths and no killing humans Achievements and at some point in the future, I'll have to replay it with a guide to get all the collectables to tie up the last two Acheivements for 100%. I've also had a bit of a blast on Halo 3 ODST and Peggle 2 just for a bit of a laugh as Alien is so full on.
I've been playing more Skyrim in between work this weekend. Enjoying it far more than when I played it years ago, I finished the civil war, dragon born and mages college quest lines, started the dawn guard quest line before heading to work. It's a really good game but I found myself losing interest in it when I started getting bogged down with misc quests. The main quests are far more enjoyable and interesting and have drawn me back in. I'll also play some more Pokemon Moon (on the 3rd island and I've levelled my Litten all the way up to an Incineroar finally I'm rejoining Squad butter with @Kyroki and Sam from the site to tackle the trenches of BF1!
@get2sammyb
I do not understand why this feature is always posted this late. It should be posted on Friday's. Sometimes I think that this feature does not get posted on time or in Nintendo Life's instance because they could not get all the writers to provide what they are playing for the article.
No offense but if the feature is getting overlooked or posted late because the community is waiting for the writers to post what they are playing I do not think it would bother anybody just to for the article to state "please share what you are playing". This way the community can share what they are playing before early to mid Saturday. Pure Xbox was always late posting this feature too.
It is the community sharing feature that is enjoyed not what the writers are playing. It is fine to post that but not to the detriment on forgetting the article or delaying it.
@shonenjump86 If i had to guess i would say the people over at nintendo life have jobs on the weekend. I visited their site a couple times and it's....pretty barren. Lots of rumors and honestly, there isn't much to write on besides pokemon on switch rumors. Not bashing them, but i've certainly been to more informative nintendo sites....
@RedMageLanakyn
But as of recent time most articles amass a huge amount of comments. Not sure if it is because of trolls (there are some there) or because Nintendo only gamers don't get too many games to play. Sometimes I think they do have enough traffic as is so WAYP is not even necessary, or again, there isn't a ton of new games to play.
@Xaritah
Will do.
PS4
Final Fantasy XV
The Last Story
PSVR
[nothing]
Vita
[nothing]
Wii U
Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon (DS virtual console)
3DS
PokΓ©mon Sun
X1
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (360 BC)
I played some Iron Banner in Destiny, but mostly ploughing through The Banner Saga, also gonna play some Watchdogs 2 and Danganronpa.
@sinalefa Yeah the comments section there seems a bit crazy, especially compared to here. I feel like nintendo fans are fiercely loyal, almost to a fault at times, and it shows over there. I've been a nintendo loyalist myself for 25+ years, but i'm not too keen on the switch. It will probably be the first nintendo console i actually don't buy on day 1, or even year 1. I've just got too many quality games between other consoles i own to warrant a gamble on a hybrid tablet.
Final Fantasy 15 - Amazing game, hopefully make it to chapter 4 or 5 before the weekend is out.
Grimms word adventure thingy (free igc game in November) - On the march to 3000 words
@RedMageLanakyn To be honest, I find Nintendo Life does a lot more than Push Square in terms of articles. I understand that some of it is useless rumours, but the majority of it is a lot of good news, and they post quite a few decent features and discussions that I would like to see a bit more of on Push Square. I won't argue that there are some fiercely loyal commenters though. In one article which just said "happy birthday Xbox" it was amassed with people saying "Xbox is rubbish, why are you saying that?". There are a lot of occasions they just need to calm down!
@BranJ0 Myabe the couple times i went there i just went at a downtime then. I just remember seeing "rumor rumor pokemon pokemon go rumor" and i just didn't go back. Maybe i'll poke in a little more to see what they have. I do enjoy articles that explore the history of nintendo and such.
I'm going to be playing overwatch with my mates, and perhaps some battlefield 1.
@RedMageLanakyn Ah yes, that was a couple of months ago, when the Nintendo community had the excitement of other people actually joining in on the fad of pokemon go for a couple of weeks, so Nintendo Life got VERY carried away with that. Coupled in with the fact that, also around that time, people were starting to get unbelievably desperate for switch news, and rumours were all we had, and it meant the site did go into a pretty useless month or so. Generally though, it's a really nice website, with lots of regular articles and discussion, even if there isn't much to discuss and, for the most part, I find the community to be just as nice as here. If you enjoy Nintendo stuff, then I'd recommend you keep on checking it out, it's very good at what it does
@JaxonH Just out of interest, what's fire emblem shadow dragon like? I've only played awakening, sacred stones, Birthright and conquest all on normal classic (except for sacred stones on hard) and I was just wondering how the game compares to those, since I've heard some less than good things about shadow dragon regarding its plot, characters and basic gameplay
Skyrim; level 9 and only one crash, met the Greybeards, found out that Trolls are arrow sponges, and experienced the thrill of death by Giant as i was launched 2 hundred feet in the air.
GTA 5; went online for some stunt races where the cars seemed super fast after recently playing Mafia 3.
@BranJ0
Well it's not as good as the ones you've played, but, you have to understand its a remake of the very first FE on NES. So for people who've played that one, ito a real treat. When that same original soundtrack from the first game kicks in, revamped from the 8-bit chiptune track, it's impossible not to grin from ear to ear.
And, it's still a great game. The battles are still 2D sprites so it's not like Awakening or Fates, and it's a tad basic at that, but it's the original story of Marth, and that holds a special place in FE canon.
The real winner though is the other DS entry that only released in Japan, Fire Emblem New Mystery of the Emblem: Heroes of Light and Shadow (FE12 for short). It's a remake of the 1st SNES Fire Emblem (3rd entry in the series) which itself was actually also a remake of the 1st entry on NES. But in FE12, they added an all new Part 2 to the game and reworked the script, so the first part is still different than Shadow Dragon and the second part is brand new. It's also the first game to add a casual mode (no permadeath), even though Awakening is often mistakenly credited for bringing the option to the series.
I think it's still a fantastic game, particularly if you plan to play Fire Emblem 12 afterward (which can be played on its own but I think it's appreciated more after experiencing the original events of Shadow Dragon). And if you do want to play FE12 it's 100% translated to English. I play it on my 3DS and it's a real gem.
But ya, if you're gonna play Shadow Dragon, it's good on DS/3DS but I like it on Wii U in dual screen mode. It works perfectly because it's a DS game and was designed with the maps on the bottom screen, which translates to the GamePad. The TV displays the personal stats page of whichever unit you hover over or alternatively the overall map with blue/red dots for units, states victory condition and number of units on each side, and summarizes the unit you hover over in the corner so you can still see which weapon they have equipped.
All FE games are must owns for any Fire Emblem fan... I own them all and there's really no exception- all of them are worth owning and playing. Especially for $10
Really, Nintendo, 90% of all spoken word involves pokemon/zelda/mario/metroidvania and a few other done to death franchises.
I finished The Last Guardian on Friday night, and it's a masterpiece I'm probably going to restart once I'm out of work later. Otherwise, just picked up Broforce on discount.
Quite a lot of Let it Die, which is becoming quite addictive. If you're a fan of Dark Souls or Suda 51 then it's right up your alley.
@get2sammyb would probably hate the sense of humour of course. It's similar to Borderlands in that way, but dear lord. It's like Dark Souls directed by Alejandro Jodorowski! It's free as well!!! And the microtransactions are really well implemented in that you don't feel pressured into taking them. It's not going to win GOTY or anything but it's 100 times better than most of the ps plus offerings this year. Plus, skateboarding Mexican grim reaper. 10/10
Finished Watch Dogs 2, now addicted to Steamworld Heist!
This will be my 4th time starting Tomb Raider, once on ps3, once on Xbox and second time on ps4, I will finish it this time!
FFXV has yet to leave my ps4. Planning on finishing up that masterpiece today then starting Vens story in Kingdom Hearts BBS and hopefully get that game wrapped up by the end of next weekend.
@get2sammyb Its all good Sammy you're only human. Im jumping into TLG myself this weekend alternating it with FF XV which just WOWED me last night with Leviathan. Like seriously.....WOW
I've been getting through watch dogs 2 and hopefully going to start TLG tonight, just catching up on today's footy
@Neolit i will give it a try! i almost didn't download this one.
Mirror's Edge Catalyst a little bit and then will be going back to the Battlefront Rogue One VR Experience (got to have a shorter title...). I can play that again and again and just be amazed.
Need....More......comments
I've been switching back and forth between Madden 17 & Plants vs Zombies 2. Need to watch Kings Glaive soon.
Watch Dogs 2
Finally took the time to finish this. After playing through the story once after releaseday I got distracted with other things. Now FFXV next!!
@sinalefa thanks, but you haven't found me have you? My nickname is so lame π
@Xaritah
I havent played Overwatch in ages, thats why I havent found you.
