Final Fantasy XV is not an MMORPG, but Square Enix seems eager to court the "constant updates" concept that has caught the likes of Destiny and Overwatch by storm. Starting from 24th January, the title will be updated with a special 'Moogle Chocobo Carnival' event, which you'll be able to access if you downloaded the Holiday Pack which is currently free on the PlayStation Store.
We don't really know much about the carnival itself, but the video embedded above shows Venice-esque city Altissia outfitted for the celebrations, and Noctis approaching the festival itself by boat. We'll be sure to return to the game as soon as it goes live in order to see what the carnival is all about, but in the meantime, let us know if you're a fan of updates like this in the comments section.

FF is my 1 fan boy weakness, and carnivals are my second, so even though this is free I'm still buying the season pass for this. I hate myself sometimes. Though the free $10 PSN credit Sony gave me that expires tomorrow is making it a little easier.
Just realized I have 10 days to move my game along, I'm only up to the waterfall by Lestallum, I leave no stone unturned. Would like to see Altisia before the carnival so I can be impressed when it arrives. I'll never make it though.
Any excuse to dive back into this game is more than welcome and who doesn't like carnivals? Hopefully there are plenty of activities to keep us occupied
Cool, hope there's an arm wrestling mini game
I think it makes sense for an RPG to have events like this and to change over time, MMO or otherwise. It's all about immersing yourself in the world and feeling like it's real. These events add to that for me.
@VotesForCows I am so bad fishing. Noc its is level 1, the other 3 guys are level 5, 6 or 7. I like to fish, it's fun, but I just can't get any fish to bite. I've changed line, lures, locations, broke 2 lines on big fish. I think for a fun little distraction mini-game they made it too much like work.
@rjejr if you leave no stone unturned you should be a reasonable level it should be possible to get to Altissia in less than 10 days. Once your there you have the option to return to any point on the map at any rest point to pick up anything you may have missed.
@rjejr I had the same problem with fishing remove anything that you have plugged into any USB slot and it should start to work. I had a guitar hero USB plugged in and couldn't catch a thing as soon as it was unplugged fishing worked.
@Fourstoneandy Thanks for the tip. I usually don't have anything plugged in, I just don't enjoy fishing I think. And I think I'll make it there in time, just need to focus and move the story forward, but it's so hard for me, I need to finish every side quest I come across when I come across it, and stupid Dino keeps sending us all across the map.
Can someone please tell me which chapter you reach Altissia in?
@b1ackjack_ps you can go back from resting points.
Any idea if an online connection is required, or do you just have to have downloaded the update?
@ZurapiiYohane64 "Doesn't fishing feel satisfying? It feels great when you catch a big one!"
No, not really, I kind of hate it. It seems like it should be something that's fun, but I just seem to break off more line and lures then I catch fish. It's more aggravating than fun for me. But I'm 1 of those people who plays for fun, not to accomplish anything, I would only find fishing fun if I caught something on every cast and my line never broke. I'd be fine w/ the fish getting off the hook, and the tension mechanic, but losing that many lures is ridiculous. And I've been fishing all my life, fishing at least a few times every spring and summer and fall, and I can't recall losing more than a lure or 2 my entire life.
Of course now that I'm in the middle of chapter 13 I wish Noctis had been fishing in instead of chapter 11, 12 and 13.
