In case you didn't know already, Nioh has a cooperative component, allowing you to join up with a friend or stranger during your dangerous adventure. As is the case in the Dark Souls games, you'll be able to summon allies into your world; whether you need help with a specific boss or you just want to smash some skulls together, the option is there.
If you're wondering how it all works, then the latest PlayStation Access video, which we've embedded above, has got you covered. Naturally, teaming up with a fellow samurai can take the edge off the game's difficulty, but slaying such fearsome demons alongside a friend still looks like great fun.
Nioh is out in just a few weeks, but will you be trying co-op? Show us how two swords are better than one in the comments section below.

I had a choice! This game or resident evil 7, I can't wait to get my hands on this 👍🏻
Looks like this may be the biggest surprise of the year.
Down side to co-op is you have to beat the area before you can join a friend. Unless I missed something when I did co-op
@B-I-G-DEVIL That's correct. I like the system. Beat the level (possibly with the aid of another) then return to help others. For those who would like a helping hand, it removes potential barriers to seeing all the game has to offer.
Edit: I guess the thought behind this system is down to the limited times you can summon before you have to farm revenants for more cups. I would be gutted using one of those items only to summon another player who is just as ineffective as I am.
Also heard they are having free dlc in the form of PVP, I also had to choose between this and RE7. After playing the Last trial demo Nioh is a day one buy alongside Horizon Zero Dawn.
@Shellcore I hate it because it makes co-op with a friend harder. I just find it fun to co-op games like this.
Now you'd have to play ahead of a friend to join them but they wouldn't be able to join you unless they went ahead of you. Seem's a bit random
My favorite part of Dark Souls/Bloodborne was teaming up with my buddy who moved cross country. It was sometimes a pain having to hide signs, but the ring helped, and the BB password system was a godsend. This method of co-op and the fact one of us would have to play ahead kind of kills that for me; oh well.
@WasabiPeanut they have been fantastic about listening to feedback from the community - so if enough people feel this way they may adapt. Difficulty is the only thing they've said they won't compromise on.
I need this now
You can't summon help against those other bosses like Tachibana, right?
@B-I-G-DEVIL There's another mode that allows you to play with a friend like this. Not many people discovered it, but it is available in the last chance demo. Not sure if you both have to had cleared the mission, but you can start together with a friend, share a bar which depletes when you die, but can be halted if you are revived quickly.
