Final Fantasy XV is a very ambitious game - sometimes for the worse. It can feel like a title that's been pieced together using countless ideas and concepts, and not all of them work as well as they should. It's slightly mad, then, that Square Enix seemingly wants to add so much more to its latest blockbuster.

In an interview with Famitsu, translated by Nova Crystallis, director Hajime Tabata spews a whole load of stuff about the developer's post-release plans. To start with, Tabata mentions that the team is currently working on "improving the scale and comfort" of the title's latter chapters, which are much more linear than the game's earlier sandbox escapades. What this actually means could be anyone's guess, but clearly the developer isn't satisfied with what the later scenarios have to offer.

Downloadable content, meanwhile, is still very much on the cards - whether it's added via purchasable packs, the season pass, or through free content updates. Tabata says that the developer would like to add "time-limited mob hunts based on enemies from the original story", which at least sounds pretty interesting. What's more, the team is still looking into ways to add extra playable characters to Noctis' party. Again, how any of this will actually work is anyone's guess right now.

Perhaps most surprising, though, is that Tabata goes on to talk about the possibility of player-created characters. As we know, Final Fantasy XV is getting some sort of multiplayer component, and custom avatars could play a part in this. However, there's also mention of player characters appearing in the main game. Sounds crazy to us, and we're not sure anyone asked for it, but we're intrigued all the same.

What do you make of all this? Is it about time for Square Enix to stop p*ssing about and actually tell us what it plans on doing? Try not to look too bemused in the comments section below.
