In a year that's so flush with PlayStation 4 games that it's honestly becoming difficult to keep up, you may be forgiven for forgetting that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is still on track for release this year. But just to remind you, Activision has deployed a new batch of screenshots, this time centring on the second game in the series, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back.
Are you impressed by the amount of work that's being invested into these classics to repurpose them for a modern generation? Scream 'OODIBIGAH!' in the comments section below.

Komodo brothers look great.
"you may be forgiven for forgetting that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is still on track for release this year"
No, Sammy, you may not!
Looks terrific. Crash 2 is my favourite in the series and these caps look awesome
SOOOO getting this, any news on if the first game has a better saving system?
It looks great, I'm really looking forward to this... more remasters
This trilogy is my childhood and I am not using that as a throwaway term. Props to Vicarious Visions for their faithful re-creation of the games.
I'm probably going to play through these 5 times or 10!
@FullbringIchigo yeah they've confirmed a few times that they've streamlined saving and are also including an autosave option as well.
Still think the visuals look 'basic' compared to something like Ratchet and Clank at this stage. I know visuals aren't the most important but that's all I have to go on so far. I know that the game-play will be more important but to me it doesn't look like its PS4 quality - more PS3 at best. I doubt many will care too much if it plays like the original trilogy but its hardly cutting edge visuals - although they do look a lot better than the original game does nowadays...
Looks lovely I can't wait for this game.
Is this a PS4 exclusive?
Wasn't a big fan of 1 or 3 but I pre-ordered because I'm looking forward to playing 2 again. Hoping for official word on a release date soon.
@roe OH THANK GOD!, honestly the saving was horrible in Crash 1
I'm still anxiously waiting for a confirmed release date.
Can't wait for this collection!I never thought we'd see a return of Crash and although an all new game hasn't been announced I will buy this game day one and it won't come out my machine until it starts to melt
I no longer want it...... I NEED IT!
I can't remember a year as loaded with games as this one has already been...
@JoeBlogs I mean that at best the game looks to be at PS3 standard and not to the standard if PS4/XB1 not that at its worst it could be on a PS2 but that it doesn't look to the standard of the current generation of consoles. I never once mentioned OLDER consoles...
Looks AMAZING
Hey Crash 2 is actually in there. No sign of Coco still.
But being built in the Skylanders engine...it looks washed out. Like the colour of the original isnt there.
Hard to explain, being colour blind.
@BAMozzy You have to remember this isn't a full on remake like Ratchet & Clank was, redoing the assets from scratch etc. this is more a high fidelity remaster. They went a bit further than just up the resolution and textures and at least in my opinion I feel it's great value bundling the 3 games and most definitely distinguishable from the OG PS versions.
Great to see some Crash 2 love.
Komodo Moe looks like a weird clay figure in that light, and I do agree with @BLP_Software that the color looks lacking here. But that might have to do with the shadow effects in use. I'd like to see the more brighter levels of Crash 2 before I fully say that though.
@FullbringIchigo yes have http://www.denofgeek.com/us/games/crash-bandicoot/256264/crash-bandicoot-n-sane-trilogy-release-date-trailer-latest-news
Unified checkpointing & save game system. This includes manual and auto-saving. (Yes, the first game now has a proper save game system!)
Unified menu system

@Tru80zGamer Its actually being rebuilt from scratch so more of a remake than a remaster. Its not even using the same engine but a faithful recreation of the original.
Vicarious Visions coined the term "remaster plus" in describing whether the N. Sane Trilogy is a remaster or a remake. They said that they do not consider it a remake, because they did not "fully remake them". They said that they used Naughty Dog's original level geometry to rebuild the Crash gameplay from scratch. As the levels were coming together, they also added their own art, animation, and audio.
Basically they are using the original games as a template to ensure it matches them but rebuilding the game from the ground up. Its not a 'remaster' where they bump the resolution and increase the texture quality!!
That mid-spin Crash is going to give me nightmares.
This is looking pretty great. It'll be fun to play these games again
@DerMeister Its not just my defective eyes then?
I saw it in N. Sanity Beach too. Colours looked muted and dull. Kind of plasticy. Figured it was just early build but no...it persisted through the trailer and now here.
@BLP_Software Yeah, I can notice it myself. I'm kinda split on the toyish visuals to be honest. They don't look bad, but the colorful flourishes help the visuals in the PS1 games. It's a good reason why I think they still look fine despite outdated graphics.
For a remaster that comes this year they are really drip feeding us.
But I know I want it. A lot.
And I hope they add a secret room where Coco and Crash are sitting on a couch playing Uncharted 1.
Crash Bandicoot 3 was always considered the best one in the series, and even though I like that games I still say Crash 2 is my favorite. Nice pics.
This remake looks great. I can't help but feel the archaic game design will be a problem, though. I would have much preferred a new game with more modern mechanics.
Maybe if this sells well.
@shonenjump86 Crash 3 is WAY too gimmicky. Forced a new vehicle or mechanic on the player almost every level.
@Ralizah @shonenjump86 Crash 2 is my favorite as well. I was replaying Warped last year and I felt that the game was better than 2 early on, but replaying the vehicle levels kinda wore that sentiment down. I still think it's a great game, but I tend to prefer my platformers with straight up platforming rather than having gimmicks.
@DerMeister At least Crash 1 isnt a god awful game design mess now.
I think I was right that this was a rush job. Announced at E3 with nothing shown, suspiciouslly after Crash leaked for Skylanders and the internet flipped out. It doesnt look good and its in an engine that doesnt visually suit the series.
It may be good but there are things off about it to me, and the fact its in this engine is a big one. Cheap and cheerful.
Yea boi! This is gonna be great!
OODIBIGAH?
So that's what he says! I've been wondering for years!
