A year later, Street Fighter V is still very much a shadow of the game that it should be. That's not stopping its maker from forging ahead with Capcom Pro Tour 2017, though – the Champions League of fighting game competitions. Or something.
We were going to explain the qualification process here, but it's so complicated that we're just going to point you in the direction of the official blog post. The big news is that the prize pool has been increased to $600,000, which is a huge sum.
Still, while we appreciate that the e-sports aspect of this game is massive, we wished that Capcom would just put some more single player content in. Are we asking too much? Maybe we're just not the intended audience anymore. Oh well.

"Are we asking too much" obviously since you keep asking.
Street Fighter V doesn't suck... if your willing to play online that is. But I get where this is going, I don't have much interest in this Capcom Cup either. I just hope there is a patch soon to fix Chun Li.
$600,000? Hahaha. DOTA2 tournaments pay out far more than that, say my Master Race friends.
And dont worry @get2sammyb given their comments on Ultra Street Fighter 2, it may be SF is going far down the Multiplayer only rabbit hole. That game only exists because of multiplayer locally.
Everyone is getting the chocolate side of the SF Stick.
Think I will trade my copy in against Tekken...
@shonenjump86 Yup! Can't wait for the rebalance...also I think new single player stuff is actually on the cards this year. I am not too interested (fighters as a single player game = very short lived) but it definitely wouldn't hurt.
this is 100$ more than last year btw...
@BLP_Software apples and oranges - moba and fighting game....
@Feena Yeah, I know. I love their stupidity with it. They even asked why Pokémon didn't rent out a full venue last year. Apparently an attempted shooting the year before didn't click with em, and they thought it was because it was "Lesser".
I don't get the mentality myself, but it makes for great riffing material.
@BLP_Software you should cite POKKEN evo 2017 numbers to your friends...those were crazy! Couldn't believe it was the second (by a really small margin) most voted game for the players' choice
@get2sammyb "street fighter v still kinda sucks" then why did this site give it a 9/10 and stand by it in the comments section? Yet every article since is negative as hell about it. Seriously swallow your pride and re-review the game already.
@Feena Those Pokken numbers were insane. Such a strong competitive following for it, maybe because its unique.
What got me about that funding was ARMS. How the hell does an unreleased, new IP, new mechanic fighting game, get that high?
@Michaelkirk02 I wrote about it explaining the entire situation here. Maybe you missed it: https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2016/12/soapbox_street_fighter_v_is_the_best_worst_ps4_game_of_2016
SF5 is great. Giving away $600,000... for free? Um, why are we complaining again? Oh ya single player... About that, there is already single player ya dingus!
It's sad because SFV is one of the best crafted fighting games ever made, on par with SFIITurbo, King of Fighters 97 e Samurai Shodown 2. But the single player is a joke when compared to Mortal Kombat X, which is in my book a lesser game when compared to SFV. That said the online is great but I'm no longer in age to invest so many time in multiplayer.
What else can we really say about SFV? I wish they would just put arcade mode in already so the site doesn't turn into downersville every time it gets brought up.
