We've played Farpoint a fair few times now and really enjoyed the PlayStation VR exclusive shooter, but we never really expected it to have much in the way of story. This new trailer has exceeded our expectations, then, as it sets the scene on a dangerous journey to a different planet. It's… Much more in-depth than we were anticipating.
Don't get us wrong, we're not expecting the virtual reality title to rival The Last of Us or anything like that, but considering we'd got the impression this was more going to be a kind of arcade experience, we're quite surprised to see there are actual, like, characters in the game and stuff. And that's a pleasant kind of surprise by the way – it seems neat.
Update (17:30 BST): Just an added note: the game's gone gold ahead of its 16th May release date.

Damn, those cutscenes make Mass Effect look great.
Hope this does well but it looks a little empty to me. I am glad to hear that there's a proper story to it though.
looks pretty cool!
I want this as it looks ace but not sure I can afford it with the pew pew stick and without it, not sure that it will have the same impact.
@roe I knew someone would say that, and I genuinely think the facial animations are better here than in launch Mass Effect — it really is that bad!
@roe Not sure if you've ever been to Mars but I can tell you from first hand experience, it's pretty desolate out there.
This game looks pretty neat. A few more games like this and I'd get a VR.
That trailer is so cool looking. To be honest this is one game I had no interest in but that sure got my attention.
But like @Rudy_Manchego says I doubt using the game without the `pew pew stick` will have the same effect, however it's not that I can't afford one but I look stupid enough with a psvr on my head I don't want to add to that by adding a plastic gun that will probably only get used for one game.
Sold, day one purchase for game and gun.
This looks like it could be really good especially with that controller, will definitely be picking this up at some point just not sure at launch
Another day one purchase for me. It looks great and I can't wait to play it with the move drain pipe. I'm looking forward to seeing what games will support the gun in the future too.
Preordered it a while ago because of this cool gun-controller. Could be the first first person shooter since ages that could feel "natural". I always hate the controls in FPS, even on PC with mouse and keyboard. But THIS could really be it.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi You want to pick up Matt Damon's space poo?
@Wazeddie22 I can't disagree, my wife filmed me playing London Heist with what she calls 'd*ldo sticks' (or move controllers to you and me) and the footage was not flattering!
Move drain pipe and pew pew stick haha brilliant!!
Getting a little excited for this game now. Just waiting for decent high scoring reviews before committing.
@Rudy_Manchego wonder what games she was playing with your move controllers maybe u can return the favor and take a video
@Wazeddie22 yeah I would probably have to lock myself in a room alone to play this, feel pretty foolish waving a toy gun around while wearing a helmet...
Looks like I'll get more out of this than NMS.
Anyone who was at Insomnia60 might be able to clarify add comment or whatever but one of my friends went with a group of people and they were all pretty much in agreement that the Farpoint demo wasnt that great and the movement felt pretty shoddy. @get2sammyb ?
Farpoint might look nice but ive got a bad feeling this is going to be another letdown for VR users expecting that system seller. Hopefully reviews of it dont overlook gameplay flaws just because its in VR.
@ellsworth004 @Rudy_Manchego Exactly!Every time I put the helmet on I always worry someone will film me,especially as I have been playing alot of Rush Of Blood and I admit..screaming like a girl..if footage gets out I will never live it down lol
@solocapers rule of thumb: never pre-order or day-one
