In a week with very few changes in the UK sales charts, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands has once again proven that hardcore gamers don't have their finger on the casual market's pulse, hugging the summit like a friendly bear. Grand Theft Auto V, FIFA 17, LEGO Worlds, and Rocket League all rounded out the top five, in a week with few new releases.
Horizon: Zero Dawn jumped back up into sixth, presumably on the back of those PlayStation 4 Pro bundles, while Overwatch, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and Mass Effect: Andromeda padded out the top ten. Elsewhere, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End made a grand return to the top 40, re-entering in 30th position.

Watch this space next week. I see something flying round the corner.
There's a Blue Shell coming for you Ubisoft. Please for the love of God and all that is holy be knocked off that perch. Please? It's not even that Wildlands is bad it's just...been there done that.
Every week I'm amazed at how well GTA V continues to do. Seriously, who's buying that now?
@roe People buying a PS4 or Xbox One for the first time.
@BLP_Software "It's not even that Wildlands is bad it's just...been there done that."
Like Mario Kart, you mean?
@get2sammyb Oh boy - you went there....
I wonder if Persona 5 will get back into the charts. They are still pretty scarce at most online stores from what I've seen.
I still can't understand how GTAv continues to sell. I know its at over 15m sales on PS4 alone so I know that a large number still doesn't own it - I am one of those myself.
Good to see Horizon in the Top 10 too - I own 3 of these games, just none of the top 5 and none of those top 5 games I want...
@get2sammyb Yeah, but one of them is fun Sammy. And we both know which It ain't the latest open world item filled people don't talk like that online slog fest from Ubisoft that appeared on their conveyer belt.
@roe I want to see some market research into GTA5. There are points where I wonder and then there are more points where the following words pop into my mouth: The UK population isn't that big, for people to consistently be buying new sealed copies of GTA5.
It's nearing the point of saturation surely? Or is everyone buying two copies?
@get2sammyb I guess but do the numbers match up? How high would PS4 console sales chart on this list if they were included?
@Rudy_Manchego Hey, Sammy can have his opinion on whatever he wants. I don't give a toss. He can hate Nintendo til his bones turn to dust in the ground and it wouldn't bother me. He's open to discussion and for that I respect him.
But even he knows when Ubisoft has somehow stagnated an entire genre on their own. Fair play to Ubisoft. I think an Assassins Creed last year would have broken the camels back.
@BAMozzy any reason you don't have an interest in GTA V?
@BLP_Software The Mario Kart port is a downgrade. I wouldn't want to buy or play that, when I already have the superior Wii U version.
At this point I'm convinced Rockstar is just buying their own games.
@Mahe ...its a downgrade? That's a new one to me. I get not wanting it because you already own the Wii U version and fair play, but why is it a downgrade?
Paying for online eventually? 1080p 60fps native resolution? Portability? Immediate multiplayer? More modes, characters, karts, items?
Oh right, its the first one isn't it?
@Octane I considered that option myself but...I do wonder, where, physically, these copies are. Supermarkets don't have them. There goes a lot of passerby consumers right there. So that leaves GAME. And in there it's very few copies if any.
@Mahe Wait, what? I understand not wanting to upgrade; €60 for 2 new characters and a battle mode is way too much for me, but how is it in any way inferior to the Wii U game? It even comes with all the DLC...
@Octane @BLP_Software
Two big ones: no Mii characters, and inferior controls. Those already make it an inferior port. Then add in all the other things like paid online, and crappy Switch hardware, and it's obvious that Wii U Mario Kart 8 is the superior version.
@Octane Mario Kart 8 for Wii U plus all the DLC is cheaper than the Switch version these days. Switch version is inferior and costs more.
@Mahe Hey look at that Mii Characters...and 6 new ones. And 5 battle modes. Sure the price is steep but it's also for the many who never owned a Wii U.
And inferior controls? That one confuses me. You have gyro for motion. You have all the buttons needed on a single Joy-Con, Joy-Con Pair, Pro Controller. You only get inferior controls in this case if buttons that were used are no longer accounted for.
As for crappy hardware. Hey that's your choice bro. I aint gonna chastise you for that.
@Octane Troll is trolly? Cant tell. Still, I'm sure many people will be enjoying it come this weekend, whether they upgrade or never had it before.
@Neolit True true. I c an't see them going much farther with GTA5. Then again, every time new content lands it entices another kind of gamer in? Maybe?
Still, it's impressive and also concerning. When a single title hits such highs, makes you wonder if the rest of the industry will be able to breathe when GTA6 lands.
@Mahe You have to be mad to think the Wii U is the superior version.. 1080p 60fps alone make the switch version far better.. not to mention the incredibly fun 8 new battle courses and 5 new battle modes, new custimization options and the versatility from switch.. .. MK8 was a great game on Wii U but the best MK game to date is the switch version
@BLP_Software I hope so. If only the system was in stock, so that people can have a chance of playing the game next week.
@Octane @Godsent Let's hope so. Then again we have also seen looks at Wii U that it has legs. Incredible legs. Best seller on the system legs.
And yes, I feel the person in question is probably trolling. Has to be. Only logical reason not to is price and that's purely subjective and down to your tastes after all.
Could see Mario Kart hitting the top spot next week, it'll be interesting to see how Dragon Quest Heroes 2 fair as well.
Horizon back on the list, nice
I don't think there's any reason for rockstar to make gta 6, why make a new game while your old game still topping chart.
@BLP_Software Don't worry was just messing and not aimed at you, it is just that Sammy's comment against Nintendo is going to get him death threats if he isn't careful
As for the actual point, couldn't agree more. I've got MK8 on pre-order and would rather play a Mario port than any of the recent ubisoft titles. I guess they are listening with Assasins Creed and they shook things up for Watchdogs 2 (as well as For Honor) but to me, I've played a lot of their games and am pretty tired of them.
@get2sammyb Yeah but Mariokart is awsome. I found the Beta extremely boring.
Eh, nothing interesting this week.
I see Breath of the Wild is slowly slipping out of the Top 10. Once Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is released, Zelda will most likely be pushed out.
I think we are overestimating the impact MK8 will have. Unlike BOTW, this has been released previously. I'm guessing many Switch owners also own a Wii U and MK8 already. Not sure a "complete edition" + battle mode will justify the price tag. Not saying it won't sell, or that it isn't worth buying - just that buying any game twice is a stretch for most.
@BLP_Software I hear you, there's nothing inherently wrong with Wildlands, it's just so bland. At least with games like Assassin's creed and Watch Dogs they had their own identity and gameplay traits that made them more unique.
@Mahe MK8D isn't quite sold to people who own the Wii U version. Which doesn't make it any less breaking news that "all DLC content and local multiplayer out of the box", "portability", "improved gameplay" and "partly improved graphics" (for those who still get hard to graphics in 2017). is the definition of a downgrade nowadays. XD
@Mahe Mii racer support remains, paid online is a welcome mat to console gaming past 2015 (and Nintendo's subscription is planned to charge half the usual market price anyway). Not sure which circle of 4chan the "inferior controls" and "Switch hardware inferior to Wii U" rumours originated in. ^^;
I still some people on my friends list playing GTAV every once in a while.
at this point in the year, there are between 8-12,000 PS4s and XB1s sold in the UK in a week - i'd assume some of these are picked up along with GTA V since its cheap enough to bundle these days. quite a few on my friends list still play it regularly. just can't get into GTA games personally.
EA must be disappointed with ME:A's performance so far.
@roe Not any 'one' reason but quite a few... I don't like any of the MP components either... I loved the original games and then the 3D GTA 3, Vice City etc but 4 bored me - a LOT....
@nhSnork Show me proof that Mii racer support is in.
@Mahe http://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/games/detail/mario-kart-8-deluxe-switch
@nhSnork Huh. There has been a massive miscommunication from Nintendo, then.
