Box art will take you back
In case you didn't know, WipEout Omega Collection is getting a retail release on the PlayStation 4, and if you shop at as of yet undetermined retailers you'll be able to nab a tasty looking steelbook copy. Here's what it looks like in all of its retweet baiting glory:
The coolest thing about the steelbook box art is that it appears to be paying homage to the classic WipEout and WipEout 2097 covers on the PSone. Take a look and see for yourself:

I hope this isn't a Europe only thing
It's nice but I think I'll buy it digital, I want to be able to race quickly for a couple of minutes before or after playing long games like persona 5 & horizon and I don't want the hassle of changing disc.
@wiiware My thoughts exactly. I like buying physical copies of games, but I buy all my sport, fighting, racing and co-op games digital.
I like that there are different, but somewhat equal preorder bonuses for physical and digital. It seemed to me Sony were pushing digital much more lately (Nioh), which from a business standpoint would be the way to go.
I think this is going to sell very well.
Aww man.. I was going to buy this digitally, but that Steelbook, is beautiful, I'll wait to see if its available anywhere in the UK first, otherwise its digital

Good shout on the games like this being ideal as digital downloads. I may get this edition then perhaps get the download when it's cheaper if it's something I end up playing a lot. I've done that for a few games.
The original Wipeout had such stylish artwork. Cool steelbook but I won't be getting this for a long time.
That's a really nice design. I've always loved the design ethos of the Wipeout games.

I may not have played much Wipeout, but I love the visual design for the series. I'm a sucker for art like that.
That steelbook looks pretty sleek, but admittedly I wish they did more with it.

I'm all over this as soon as pre-orders are up.
Both of the Australian retailers just posted this up on their websites. And i went instore today to put a AU$14.95 deposit at Ebgames (so i only pay exactly AU$40). When i did it i asked about the steelbook to see if its online only, and he looked up and said it should be instore as well, but didnt know exactly. He also said if everyone preorders the normal edition they shpuld get the steelbook for free anyway. So yeah considering its nearly AU$10 more than PS Store price of AU$46.95. The steel book and the 4 themes beats the ps store deal which only has 1 worse theme, 4 Avatars and a digital exclusive Uber Ship. The themes that come with the Physical Steelbook look amazing.
