It was only announced days ago, but publisher THQ Nordic has teamed up with IGN to drop Darksiders III bombs like they’ve been forged by one of the four horsemen themselves. After this week’s reveal trailer, now 12 minutes of pre-alpha footage have been uploaded to give you a flavour of what you can expect from the anticipated adventure sequel.
The operative word here is pre-alpha: that means it’s a long, long way from being finished – the game isn’t even scheduled to release until 2018, after all. As such, the audio is a little lacking, and the combat doesn’t quite carry the same punch that you should expect from the final game. The hair, though, is magnificent – never since Alice: Madness Returns have a protagonist’s locks flowed so fabulously.

Wow... Perhaps it's time for me to try the first two games...
Well, for a pre-alpha that wasn't looking too shabby...in the slightest. And, yup, her hair's a flowing thing of beauty. Will definitely be a purchase from me.
@Bobobiwan both of them are so cheap now that if you have any interest you should play them. I played DS2 first and I felt I missing on some things without playing as Death first but both are great games if you enjoy just hack and slash fun, with a really good lore for the two games. I personally am in for DS3 as Strife and will totally play DS4 as Fury to finish the series.
After not being impressed by the reveal trailer I can now say I AM impressed after watching this.
That's a weird look when she starts fighting those guys. It's like one of those "miniatures" filters on the background and dirt covered trucks, looks almost like a kids diorama that had CGI superimposed on it, very jarring. I'm guessing they put a lot more work on the characters than the surroundings, lighting and all that.
Could be as close as we ever come to Heavenly Sword 2 though. Will people be calling her "Goddess of war" too?
Watched the rest, decided it's like watching the deleted scenes on blu ray film, the ones they never finished w/ the green screens still in the background. So it may look fine when it's done.
This could be really good. I just grabbed 1 and 2 off PSN while they are still on-sale in the US. I enjoyed the first but never got around to playing 2.
I didn't like the first game at and never tried the second, but this has my interest peaked. I especially like the look of the main character and may consider getting it down the line for some hack and slash action. Don't really care about this game's story though so I think I'll just start with this game if I'm going to start in on this franchise at all.
Wow. This actually looks better than I expected. Couldn't get into the first so I've avoided the series. May look into this one in the future.
This looks awesome. Good thing it's not coming out until next year so I have time to play the first two games.
It really shouldn't take them too long or be too hard for them to create this game considering they're using the same assets and engine from the first two games.
In a game like this the camera must be way further in the back...you even the enemy blocks the view sometimes...
Besides that pretty cool
I know it's Pre-Alpha, but they really shouldn't have uploaded this. The intended-not intended 'leak' and the trailer was enough for now. Just judging by the dislikes for a highly anticipated sequal, people aren't happy either.
Jumping is too floaty and the swinging doesn't look right. The whip also lacks character. It doesn't carry the weight of Wars' greatsword or the flexibility of Deaths' twin scythe and looks like it might get boring quick.
I wish they had waited to show off something more polished. Then again people are talking about Darksiders, so that's great.
If that is the definition of 'good' hair, I would hate to see her on a 'bad' hair day!
It reminded me more of one of those 'trolls' - not just because of the colour but the way it also stands up. Maybe that's the 'Nordic' connection. I really don't like the 'blur' on the the ends either.
The Witcher 3 has better hair!
Didn't really enjoy the first two 'Darksiders' games - they were OK but nothing that special. A bit too early too pass judgement on this - especially a pre-alpha build. Character model looks OK, setting seems relatively 'interesting', combat looks predictable and samey (I know its a pre-alpha and it could evolve). At face value, it does look quite average and 'dull' although story and depth can elevate that...
The graphics is pretty good if the framerate is 60 fps like this pre-alpha demo.
@RedMageLanakyn I thought it was Unreal 4 whereas the others were an in-house engine?
@get2sammyb You might be right on that. I know that they used an in house engine for DS2, i figured when they picked up the franchise they also acquired the engine. Better if they move to U4 honestly, hopefully they are.
If you played War, Death, and Fury in these three games, I wonder if they'll make a fourth one where you play Strife (mentioned at least once in Darksiders II). Also would be cool if Death makes an appearance in this game.
Knowing the darksider series, the whip has a lot of cool combo possibilities later in the game. I'm excited. Just.... please... don't compare it to Zelda. (The developers justly dislike this comparison)
So far...meh!
Looks great so far!!
Looking good to me so far. Loved the first two, Happy that they are continuing the franchise.
