A casual reminder that 2017 is still firing on all fronts: Injustice 2 is the latest game to comfortably exceed expectations. Reviews for NetherRealm’s anticipated DC Comics dust-up are just starting to emerge, and while we received our copy a little late, we figured we’d round up a variety of reviews from around the web before we strike you with our verdict. TL;DR: it’s bloody good!

Injustice 2 is a huge amount of fun. There's tonnes of stuff to do, it looks the part and the new fighting mechanics serve a purpose while deftly avoiding adding complexity. Injustice 2 is also a game I thoroughly appreciate for the lovely little touches. I appreciate that NetherRealm has put frame data into the move list. I appreciate there are character-specific tutorials. I appreciate there's a tournament mode that lets you battle offline with no progression or rewards. I appreciate how over the top the supers and stage transitions are. And I appreciate the character's eyes seem to look in the right direction. In short, Injustice 2 is the complete fighting game package, and it's one I hope other developers in the genre take notice of.
Game Informer - 9/10
Injustice 2 is a huge game, offering a lengthy story-based campaign, a great fighting experience, and a nearly endless supply of notable loot. The small tweaks to combat go a long way in creating a more dynamic flow, which resonates well in multiplayer matches. I ran into a little lag in a few online bouts, but the game ran smoothly most of the time. Even if you don’t enjoy the competitive aspects of the fighting genre, this is a game you can dive into for an enjoyable superhero story. Brainiac is a tough fight, but anyone should be able to march to him and take him down on the easiest difficulty.
GameSpot - 9/10
With AI battles, online and local versus matches, the diverse and ever-changing Multiverse, and an impressive story mode, Injustice 2 offers numerous ways of engaging with its characters and testing your abilities without feeling repetitive. This variety is further bolstered by gear. Despite the needlessly complex economy tied to item management, the value of customization and expression that comes with gear ultimately makes up for it. And with over 25 characters to explore, it's easy to look forward to watching your next character grow while your understanding of the game continues to expand. NetherRealm has delivered a fighting game that can be enjoyed by new players and pros alike in ways that go beyond pure competition. It's a bar that every fighting game should meet, but one that has up until now seemed out of reach.

Not surprised. NetherRealms has been nailing it since MK9/Injustice. Will get it down the line for sure, but not right now.
Hype!
Tekken > Injustice 2 > Blazblue > kof15 > doa5 > punching yourself in the face > sf5
i'll get it eventually but i have other games coming that i have to save for that take priority for me
I am glad for the fans this turned out well but I am going to skip it as I generally don't like Netherrealm's approach to fighting games - Will get Tekken and MVCi. Fighting Games have never really been a Western developed thing imho.
@themcnoisy better package is very different from better game...MK X died super fast after launch, so I am not making the same mistake again as "there is no one to play with online" is really the worst thing that can happen to a fighting game.
I'm loving the loot system. I have already been modifying my Harley.
Injustice 1 never hooked me so I will be getting Tekken 7 and Arms over this.
Street Fighter V already looks like an embarrassing mess compared to this, Tekken, MKX and Dead or Alive 5.
I know I said on a previous Injustice 2 article I was going to wait on this. I caved and bought the Ultimate Edition because NetherRealm packs their games full of content and seeing Sub-Zero and StarFire as DLC characters.
That and I love their fighting games.
They are releasing a more complete game then Street Fighter 5.
Cannot wait to pick it up on my way home. I have been playing the mobile game a ton since it dropped last weekend.
@Deadlyblack excellent!
This game is Wallet Rape. Too much cut out of the game so they can resell it to you back later.
@JerkWad dude this game is probably the most content packed fighting game ever especially single player wise so who gives a poo if there's dlc

Sounds great love the offline tournament mode comment!
As much as i want to get this I will wait for a complete edition. I already made that mistake with MKX..
Will be waiting for reviews on Tekken 7 before deciding which to buy. Over time I became disappointed with a number of decisions NetherRealm made in regards to MK X, so its games are no longer instant purchases from me. I also know that a 'complete edition' for Injustice 2 will be on the way so I might just wait for that.
I'll stick to MK XL thanks, this is just essentially a 99% re-skin of that
The release date to the right says 16th May for UK but Game are saying 19th for release date?
@gmxs lol.
I take it you've never played an injustice game before.
Sure have, I have the very 1st one sitting right in my PS4 library, with a plat, also played every MK game since it came out, so, your point is?
I'm interested but Tekken 7 interests me more.
On a side note, wouldn't a proper SF story mode along the lines of the anime Street Fighter The Animated Movie (one of the best Manga's IMO), be the bee's knee's?! Imagine a Street Fighter RPG, where you travel the world, learning new techniques, hunting for fighters and trying to destroy or takeover Shadaloo....
