Oh boy, it's time for the another Uncharted movie update! This time around, Deadline is reporting that Spider-Man Homecoming lead Tom Holland will be playing a young Nathan Drake in what will essentially be an origin story. Supposedly, the film will feature the first meeting between Nate and his mentor, Sully. Hmmmm.
We last heard about the now infamous Uncharted movie back in February of this year. News broke that Uncharted series developer Naughty Dog, rather unsurprisingly, had nothing to do with the production of the film. A script had been written, though, suggesting that the project had finally found some stable ground after years of cancellations and rewrites. However, if this latest report is to be believed, then even that script has been scrapped in favour of this newest iteration starring a younger Drake. Maybe that's a good thing after all the bickering that happened.
So, will this thing ever actually release? Well, nothing's set in stone at this point - and perhaps it never will be - but attaching an actor like Holland to the project at least makes us think that Sony Pictures is holding out hope. We guess we'll have to see how Holland's performance in the aforementioned Spider-Man film goes down.
What do you make of all this? Have you ever been interested in a potential Uncharted movie? Give us the usual moans and groans in the comments section below.

This movie is never getting made. They literally just finished the script and now they're starting over for the billionth time.

Lmao he look's about 10, I don't know who he is but he doesn't look very Nathan Drakey does he Maybe it's about Nathan Drake's school year's? They'll have to wait until he can grow a beard right? Didn't ND have stubble?
I'll be astonished if this movie actually releases.
Great actor, lots of charisma but no, this isn't happening.
Any adaptation can only work if the spirit and the core of the source material is maintained. That source material is Nathan Drake. It is the biggest part of it.
Ok so Tom Holland, yes, good actor but an origin story? Come on, we all know that 'origin story' means it'll be a big build up for a sequel that will never be greenlit. Assuming this one ever gets done anyway.
Are they turning Nathan Drake into Young Indiana Jones? It's been done. So no this is not getting made. If so call it something else. Clock is ticking for Nathan Fillion. Maybe they can do Old Man Drake like Old Man Logan.
Assuming the movie does get made, I don't think going down this path is the worst idea TBH. I mean, the movie would be like National Treasure with tweens, but I really don't think anyone wants to see an actor pretending to be Drake on screen.
Heh heh...
No.
I saw last night that the reason this is 'supposedly' happening is that one of the heads of Sony Studios saw an early cut of the new Spiderman and liked Tom Holland so much he decided to offer the role of a young Nathan Drake and scrap the scripts/director etc. that was being worked on and is now going to find some writers to build a script around a young Nathan Drake.
It kind of makes sense. Perhaps the producers thought about all the past failed game-to-movie crossovers and decided that a grown up Nathan Drake movie wouldn’t be able to carry as much youth appealing banter, content, plot, etc. Unlike the superhero movies, that as Marvellous as they are, kick off with a conceit of monumental adolescent absurdity from the start.
