And that's why you put "rumour" before a headline that may or may not turn out be true. Yesterday we reported on an allegedly leaked Red Dead Redemption 2 in-game image. The picture itself is pretty darn boring, but there's so much hype surrounding Rockstar's next blockbuster that we couldn't just ignore it.
We noted that the off-screen snap looked "reasonably legit", and as it turns out, we were kind of half right. The image is actually of another game entirely, as PC Gamer points out. The title in question is named Wild West Online - a PC MMO that's currently in the works and is about to hit Kickstarter. What a coincidence.
Thinly veiled publicity stunt or not, this whole kerfuffle matters little to us since we're a PlayStation site - so we'll just refer you to the comments section below for some high quality hot takes.

I'll be shocked if it actually comes out this year.
Genius publicity stunt. Almost makes me want to throw some change at the Kickstarter for the sheer audacity of it.
@get2sammyb - Speaking of Kickstarter how many of those games end up being any good? I'm not knocking Kickstarter I just really don't know.
I could have played some without knowing.
@Splat Shovel Knight? FTL? Divinity? Broken Age? What was that one that people like on PS4... Erm, oh bloody hell. That oneee. Argh this is going to annoy me... It's like a dude holding a sword. Pixel art. Very pretty. I'll have to think about it.
@Splat HYPER LIGHT DRIFTER. Knew I'd get there eventually.
Well, thats a shame.
As a primarily PC gamer, the amount of sheer whining they do over at that site is downright embarrassing. Never happy with what they have, always complaining they never get console games, and condoning illegal emulation at every turn. It's really not the end of the world to drop a few hundred on a PS4 or Switch to compliment a gaming PC.
@get2sammyb
I'm making a kickstarter teaser image of an old guy and a little girl going to fight some fungus people.
Sort of off topic, but I love that Red Dead Redemption 2 key art so much.
@RedMageLanakyn I find that there seems to be a huge feeling of entitlement across the board, but especially with some PC players, which is that everything should be available on one platform at a cheap price and therefore, if it isnt, it is ok to emulate//pirate.
Completely crazy argument, gaming is an industry designed to make money. It just isn't how the world works. I had an argument with someone at work who was eager to get the Wii U Zelda:BOTW emulation working on their PC because it was unfair they would have to buy a console to play it.
Still can't see it'll be released till next year tbh.
@Rudy_Manchego Yeah, I've had the same BotW argument as well. I've even offered to let a couple friends borrow my wiiu so they could play it. There are enough good games for the wiiu that the price of entry is worth it, even if they are a bit harder to find nowadays.
@Splat: SO MANY! Man, this is something that's so frustrating about Kickstarter - except for putting backer names in the credits, crowdsourced games don't advertise the fact that they're kickstarted (or Indie Gogo'd, or whatever) EVER. Its like they're hiding it, which is stupid, because they let the entire perception of crowdfunding be determined by stuff like Yooka Laylee, Mighty No.9, Bloodstained and Shenmue III - games that have massive PR. That's not cool, because then the failures get blown way out of proportions.
Literally, no one keeps track of these games among mainstream sites. Luckily, Kickstarter does! https://www.kickstarter.com/play
Kickstarter games seriously make up like 80% of the indie and "AA"/middle tier part of the industry! A ton of awesome games that, unfortunately, most people haven't heard of (again, that's the problem with indies "hiding" their crowdsourced origins and letting stuff like Yooka Laylee dominate the conversation around Kickstarter)

>Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom (PushSquare review here: https://www.pushsquare.com/reviews/ps4/shiness_the_lightning_kingdom)
My God, there's so many. There's so many! Crowdsourcing has made SO MANY awesome games possible! Seriously, look at that list. Follow indie sites too, and just look at some of the cool stuff that pops up constantly. Its so important, especially nowadays, where "AAA" publishers focus on 4 or 5 genres and say "F**k it" to everything else, indies and AA productions literally make games for 99% of genres that are being ignored. And tons of them are good, too. TONS.
