4A Games, the Ukrainian dev responsible for both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, showed off their next entry in the Metro series, Metro: Exodus, at Microsoft's E3 conference. The trailer started in the congested subway systems the series is no stranger to, but things gave way to a much more open outdoor environment, where what we assume is the series' protagonist, Artyom, removed his mask upon exiting the station. How drastically have things changed out there?
The trailer mentioned that the new entry is inspired by author Dmitry Glukhovsky's final entry in the Metro trilogy, Metro 2035, and with this writer having read the whole series, that could hint at some pretty awesome things in store for this game when it releases in 2018.

Metro last light had a Bioshockesquse quality to it. Hopefully that isn't lost with going open world.
This looked mighty impressive - Definitely on my wanted list...
If you haven't played a Metro game yet then you are doing yourself a disservice. They are one of the most underrated FPS games out there. Great mechanics, world and story.
The Metro series is WAYY too underrated in my eyes. Can't wait for this.
Oh man oh man oh man!
OK now we are talking
Looks great, count me in
I want my belt feed shotgun not some garbage trash crossbow.
I'm the guy who never plays FPS shooters, but thanks to its unique blend of shooter, stealth and horror, Metro Redux is one of my favorite games on PS4 (hell, I even played it in Russian to immerse myself better). Looking forward to this despite the fact that I find the third book (and the book series as a whole) slightly dissapointing.
And I'd agree with the author that the ending of 2035 opens up a lot of possibilites and judging from the trailer they look to tap into that potential.
Best FPS series ever imo. Atmosphere in spades, quirky and clunky weaponry, stunning sound and graphics. Can't wait.
Glad to see we're getting a new one as the Redux remasters got me into this awesome franchise.
That looked awesome! Cant wait to see some actual game play. I feel like they shouldnt have made that look so good lol
@Lurker Yeah they seem to be touching on a lot of stuff they only implied in 2035! And did you read them in Engish? I found the translations of 34 and 35 especially had something lacking.
@zimbogamer @Deadlyblack Yessss! 100% with you! 2033 is still one of my absolute favorite games ever, and definitely at least my favorite FPS ever!
@gbanas92 I've actually read them in Polish, so I was fortunate enough to get 2035 quite some time ago. Transaltion quality wasn't the issue here, but I have several problems with the series itself (especially the shifts in tone between books). Glukhovsky started writing 2033 as a teenager and it's kinda evident he didn't envision it as a series and that as he got older he wanted to focus on different things.
I'm glad he's so involved in games though. Last Light worked quite well as a bridge between 2033 and 2035. Having played it after finishing 2035 made ma appriciate it more. The ending of 2035 allows 4A a lot of atristic freedom I think, so I hope they're gonna improve their formula even more.
@Lurker Ahhhhh. Gotcha! Yeah In English, 2035 has only been available for a few months now. Yeah, the tone and narrative strands in the books are all over the place. I agree it doesn't feel like a series in that way. Particularly 2034. It's sandwiched between 2 books that are for the most part connected while being almost entirely disassociated from the other two.
Also agreed, I'm glad Glukhovsky seems to really enjoy the games (hell, he helped write Last Light). It's a great contrast to Andrzej Sapkowski's opinion on the Witcher game's and video games in general for that matter.
I'm really excited for Exodus either way!
