BioWare's brand new intellectual property, ANTHEM, was revealed yesterday during EA's totally-not-E3 press conference. All we got was a very brief teaser trailer, so admittedly we don't have much to say about the project just yet, but what we do know is that it's going to be blown open at Microsoft's show tonight.
The fact that ANTHEM is going to be fully revealed at the Xbox presser has lead to a lot of speculation regarding whether or not the game will be an Xbox One exclusive - or even a Scorpio exclusive, whatever the heck that means. BioWare's director of marketing shot that notion down over on NeoGAF, however, confirming that the title is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC as well.
So when is ANTHEM launching? According to the reveal trailer's YouTube description - which has now been edited - the game's due to release in spring 2018. This means that it won't be in direct competition with Destiny 2, which launches in September. We bring up Bungie's sequel because, supposedly, ANTHEM has a lot in common with it - a co-op-focused sci-fi shooter. We'll see if that turns out to be the case later tonight.

It's bonkers to me that people thought this was exclusive in the first place.
X-Box has exclusives?
Joking aside this is MS last chance to sell me on getting an X-Box this gen. I don't care how powerful the Scorpio is. If it doesn't have games it's just a paperweight. GAMES GAMES GAMES or don't care.
Yeah. Only PS4 has exclusives. What is this, 2006?
Still, we have seen nothing of substance of this yet and I doubt we will tonight so....hooray new IP?
Not really interested in this one, but glad to hear it is not exclusive. Can definitely see why people thought it would be.
Its like Destiny was a PS4 exclusive?? Nobody expected Fallout 4 to be exclusive to MS 'just' because they had the marketing deal. Its not like Sony don't have these with Destiny, CoD, SW:BF2, RDR2 and Fifa so why shouldn't MS have any?
Even if it does have 'similarities' to Destiny in structure/format - something the Division' also had, doesn't mean gamers have to pick 1 or the other. It looks like it could be 'different' enough too and at least it looks like EA are offering something 'New' as opposed to yet another sequel...
I appreciate that its 'difficult' to get too excited based on a short trailer that only sets the scene. Spring 2018 though isn't that far away. I am sure Sony will be showing at least 1 game that 'could' release around then - they did release games like Horizon, Uncharted, Bloodborne, Infamous etc in this window successfully. Some think EA should have pushed Titanfall 2 out until spring 2017 too...
Anyway, I will be watching this with interest as I found the aesthetics and concept to be interesting with a lot of potential...
At least we know what 'Project Dylan' is now!
Third party xbox exclusive as of now don't make a lot of sense. They would have to offer a lot of money to make up for all those missed ps4 sales.
The concept of this is intriguing but it's a tad too generic gritty sci-fi in the aesthetic department, I hope it gets more exciting.
I was excited when I first heard about Bioware's new IP, but the Destiny comparisons are disappointing for sure. I was hoping for a new RPG - a sci-fi Dragon Age - oh well, the rumors are it is an online shooter. There's certainly a market (Destiny, Overwatch, Wildlands, Division, etc.), just not a game for me.
It happens every year i.e MS pretend that a few games are Exclusive to the Xbox brand. Just wait and see(whenever their show is on) I normally watch paint dry when their show is on because it's more interesting
@get2sammyb Yup, I don't get it. Gaming news moves too fast I guess, people start assuming things based on a few words at a press event.
@Carl-G Like Sony do with their 3rd Party deals - Destiny for example. Even RE7 last year... Its not exclusively something that only MS do at all. Maybe if you are 'just' a PS gamer, it may seem that way because you don't see Sony from the same perspective as an Xbox gamer but Sony have been doing that for years and years...
It amazes me how people accuse the opposition of some 'underhanded' tactic that their choice has been doing for years too! Sony haven't exactly stopped buying up 3rd Party marketing and exclusivity deals.
You go watch Paint dry and continue to demonstrate the fanboyism that gives ALL gamers a bad name/press etc and I, as a gamer first and foremost, will enjoy their show, the games and hardware I will be looking forward to. If it wasn't for MS, Sony could be a far less exciting and interesting place to game on. Its that competition that pushes both on. I know its not just 1 way, but a number of aspects that Sony offers are as a result of MS offering them first. The number 1 most requested feature, MS has offered for years - name changing! Built in HDD's were first on Xbox too! Its better to have a healthy respect for the competition because they are what pushes your preferred option to be 'better'.
Excuse me while I wait to see absolutely loads more before I get excited. The teaser was meh, and it's Bioware and EA.
Still, benefit of the doubt for now!
If I am not mistaken, I think I heard that the Andromeda team is working on this, if so. I am pretty hesitant on this. I'll keep an eye on it's progress but I am not expecting much.
Polyphony digital make racing, Bungie make shooters, Sports interactive make management, Atlus make JRPGs.
Bioware make.... Error Error does not compute.
EA after your abject and disturbingly unprofessional presentation it all makes sense. How about the madden developers make your next crappy fps game and let bio ware loose on another awesome Rpg.
@BAMozzy Your forgetting the fact that MS have previous with money hatting games just to keep it off PlayStation (at least for sometime) see Titanfall, Tomb Raider and Dead Rising 4. I wouldn't be surprised is they pull the same stunt again tonight because they'll be desperate to sell Scorpio on something.
I think this is supposed to be post apocalyptic game after the POTUS Drumpf builds that wall. I'm getting Evolve/Destiny vibes.
EA making Destiny 2 was the biggest twist of E3
