Prior to the announcement of Monster Hunter: World, many were expecting a shoddy spin-off designed for the Western audience. It’s becoming increasingly apparent, however, that this is a proper entry in the dinosaur slaying series, with key creative from past instalments all involved. And interviews published by Dengeki Online have now revealed that the title has been in production for about four years.
It’s running on an updated version of MT Framework, and the concept was conceived because there have been many requests from fans for a PlayStation 4 version of Monster Hunter for some time now. The important thing is that the developer isn’t Westernising the title as was rumoured prior to release – it’s making a proper entry, and tweaking mechanics and features to optimise the experience. You can learn more about the title through here.

I am more excited for this than any other game announced. The trailer did look a bit odd... Like something was just kind of, idk, off about it. Hopefully we get to see more soon. Would love to see some returning monsters, felynes, towns/the central hub.
Cannot wait its also good to see rumours put to bed.
Yeah the trailer didn't look as polished as the other stuff on display, but so what? Nier Automata ain't a looker but it's (in my mind) the best open world RPG ever.
Theres some stuff I don't really like about the 3DS version I have, like the way things are split up into zones. I hope they join everything up a bit more organically and have some nice towns and villages dotted around the landscape.
@kyleforrester87 Yes there are no zones in MHW and you can use healing items while moving or make a camp to change equipment...it's really a natural evolution!
Hey, Monster Hunter had to drop the PS2 assets someday, right?
Uh huh. Best news i heard today.
@Feena dope!
MT Framework, eh? I guess Capcom has given up on Panta Rhei then.
Can't wait to play this, gameplay and story is way more important than graphics.
@kyleforrester87 Agree about nier automata
I'm giddy.
This game is old very old and only new to the audience that didn't follow monster Hunter closely. If i recall the pc version has been out for sometime and there was an updated one for 360 I believe also If I remember the pc version had monthly sub.
Its not really open world, its just that there are no more split up sections and the apparently the maps are pretty big as well.
@BoltedArc you are thinking of Monster Hunter Online, an entirely different game.
@Feena they look very similar from what I see only dengeki is dev instead of tencent.
More or less suspicious might be republished so JP can get a hold of it!
@BoltedArc not really 😅
I stand corrected and I'm happy I was wrong
