Shadow of the Tomb Raider was already spotted on a Canadian subway, and we’ve since learned that it’s almost certainly in production at Eidos Montreal, while series developer Crystal Dynamics turns its attention to The Avengers. And now a website seems to have leaked the first concept art and assets from the title.
The embedded images were shared by Takeoff Creative, a marketing company which has worked with Square Enix in the past – and now probably won’t again. The pictures have been removed, but they show some mock-up logos, as well as protagonist Lara Croft seemingly raiding some pyramids. Ancient Egypt is very much back in vogue, folks.
It’s probably worth mentioning that some of the logo designs include art from Rise of the Tomb Raider, so it’s still probably early days for this project. Let’s hope that Square Enix has the good sense to put this one on all target platforms at the same time, as we’re not sure the Tomb Raider franchise could cope with the commercial repercussions of another ill-advised exclusivity deal.

Well, Egypt does have a lot of Tombs...
I'm sure no one will complain if Sony strikes the exclusive deal this time.
@Sir_JBizzle I think PLENTY of people will complain.
I definitely enjoyed Tomb Raider 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider. I expected the next game to head to Central America due to something in Rise of the Tomb Raider, so maybe these are Mayan pyramids or something. Either way, I will definitely be excited to see it.
Another game set in Egypt? Count me in!
But then again, the last game wasn't the best. Even though the first (reboot) was fantastic to me.
I have yet to play Rise, that whole exclusivity deal left a bad taste in my mouth.
I love these games, stupid name though
I don't know why but Microsoft always pulls that crap with titles I grew up playing and have a connection with. Ace Combat 6 (which never released anywhere else) and then Tomb Raider for a whole year! Played Ace Combat 2,3,4,5 & zero on PS1 & PS2 and was having a blast, along comes Microsoft and the fun is over! Still haven't played Ace Combat 6 to this day. Please go and invest in some new first party studios and leave my favorite games alone Microsoft! lol
I'm not a design major, but one would think that the sord Shadow would look better as a shadow under the title of Tomb Raider...
I'm just disappointed Eidos Montreal is making it for two reasons. The first is because Crystal Dynamics made two great Tomb Raider games. The second, it means we'll likely never get the conclusion to the Adam Jensen Deus Ex story.
Feels like Tomb Raider and Egypt will be a perfect match.
The 2013 reboot and Rise of the Tomb Raider are two of my favorite games in recent years. Consider me unbelievably hyped for this game!
@Nesstark88
Which is why I was laughing at Gamespot's interview with Phil Spencer during this E3. He essentially said he doesn't like to engage in other companies missing out on content and he was quick to point out he wasn't the head of the Xbox Division last gen during the Call of Duty deals MS made, which started this whole mess. Of course, he doesn't acknowledge that HE was responsible for what happened with Rise of the Tomb Raider. But people still kiss up like he's God's gift to gamers. It would be hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic watching mostly grown men fawning over another grown man like star-struck teenagers.
@Gamer83 You have been warned multiple times about watching your language here, please heed this warning. -Tasuki-
I was told months ago that word was ok, by Sammy no less. People need to start being more clear about what is and isn't allowed.

There you have it, cant be any clearer then that.
I hope Eidos Montreal throw a few Deus Ex easter eggs into their Tomb Raider game.
I enjoyed Rise of the Tomb Raider but not as much as the original. I think the story wasn't as focused and neither was the game world but it was still a pretty good game and I am a huge Tomb Raider fan. I think I have played nearly all the games (maybe missing a couple on PS1 eta).
@Rudy_Manchego I'm with you. I liked rise, but didn't think it was as good as the last one.
If I may, I do not think that's Egypt, actually. The pyramids and the design of sculpture and walls look more Mayan or Aztec to me, without even mentioning the jungle, so I'd say the game is going to be set in Mexico, Central America or the northern part of South America. Maybe it's just me, but none of those images says "Egypt" to me. That's not the only country with pyramids you know
@Cheski
Oops... didn't see your comment and wrote pretty much the same thing. But I agree, even though I've never played Rise of the Tomb Raider (nor any other Tomb Raider game, actually)...
Oh goody. Let's not have any is-it-or-isn't-it exclusive deals this time.
On PS1, Tomb Raider The Last Revelation, set in Egypt also - was the best one.
An HD(r?), modern Tomb Raider with bucketloads of Egyptology sounds excellent, get back to what pulled people in originally!
Announce it as (possibly timed) exclusive on psp on April 1st. What could go wrong?
@hi_drnick But she hates tombs
Yeah, I'll be going with the others in saying it's Central America, not Egypt.
The Tomb Raider reboots are some of the best games in recent years. Like others, I found the Story of the 2nd a bit weaker but the overall package was stronger and fortunately, did away with MP too.
Whether, Egyptian, Mayan or the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia, I can't wait to play another Tomb Raider...
@Gamer83 Welcome to Pushsquare, were "Do what I say, not what I do" isn't just a motto, it's a way of life.
How's your knowledge of Jewish folklore?
I ready for a new Tomb Raider Game.
@Gamer83 Has your post been edited? I don't see any bad language. Anyway I noticed that as well and agree with you completely.
Now now. Not being able to use certain words is a small price to pay for being a member of this site. If I wanted to cuss like I normally do (and I do. IRL I'm incredibly sweary. Malcolm Tucker level) I would go somewhere else. It's not a huge inconvenience. Let's just leave it.
@Gamer83 GameSpot acts like he's a walking entity. They constantly write articles about him. I only visit the site just to check on PC stuff since I don't want to visit PC Gamer.
it's NOT Egypt............... did you guys even play the 2nd game????
at the very end it's made pretty clear she was going to central America.... they also have temples & pyramids.....
the camera is hovering over a map of central america.. man gamers are dumb know nothing about geography
@hi_drnick
@Gamer83 My thoughts exactly. On Deus Ex and Phil Spencer.
Loved the first of the remakes but I haven't actually finished the second yet and I started that one ages ago. I'm sure I enjoyed playing it.....
the reboot was good, but i didn't play rise of the tomb raider. the MS exclusivity was partly a reason, i suppose - by the time it eventually released on PS4 it felt a bit like 'last years game' (even if it did have improvements for PS4/pro) and like its original release date (which proved unsuccessful for xb1), it was released at a time that was crammed with genuine new stuff. i probably wasn't the only PS4 owner to think so.
@leucocyte
I'd argue it's still a lot better than many, if not all, of the newer games released around the same time last year, but no doubt the timing was poor and even with the improvements made and them going out of their way to try and act like they were doing something special for PlayStation owners, the exclusivity deal and how pathetically it was handled from a PR standpoint (especially when it first happened) was fresh in many people's minds. Like the article says, hopefully commonsense and not $ dictates this time around. I said when it happened that it would overshadow the release and hurt sales (and was called a PlayStation fanboy by people with no clue) and that's exactly what happened. Still disgusted with SE for that, I don't care how much $$$ MS was waving around, and I've been consistent on that. Then this same stupid company goes and hurt the hype for Deus Ex:Mankind Divided with that dumb 'augment your pre-order' nonsense. Really a dumb company. Right there with Capcom and Konami as the top 3 with execs who have no idea what they're doing.
@Deadlyblack
What's embarrassing is it's grown men writing these articles. I'm sure Phil Spencer loves the attention, as most people with big egos do, but even he has to find it weird how much these, again, grown men, trip over themselves to get a few words from him and then act like they've just had some religious experience. This is why 'professional' gaming journalism is a joke and I stick to PushSquare and NintendoLife.
Both recent Tomb Raiders have been brilliant, so I'd be well up for another one.
