Poor ol’ Project CARS 2, eh? The original entry in Slightly Mad Studios’ simulation racing series did really well, owing to the fact that there was no Gran Turismo game announced for the PlayStation 4. But now its successor is going to get lost in the slipstream of Polyphony Digital’s latest (and, we assume, a new Forza game) which isn’t going to end well we suspect.
Nevertheless, the sequel’s due out on 22nd September, and here’s a trailer showing it off in all of its 4K glory. There’s also a collector’s edition which comes with a model McLaren 720S, a steelbook case, some bonus content, a sticker sheet, and an eSports VIP Pass. Do you have any interest in this one at all? That's around the time I expect Gran Turismo Sport to be released.
@NathanUC Yep.
Personally I think this'll blow GT out of the water. Maybe not in sales but in reviews I suspect it will.
GT has more or less not changed since GT3. The more online side to GT Sport isn't going to dramatically change that.
Its still the same admittedly beautiful game that however lacks dynamic weather, day/night cycle, fairly poor car sounds and the urgency of better racing sims along the years due to the lack of damage.
Project Cars, atleast the first one anyway, has better, more accurate physics than GT and more importantly.. much more choice. With rally cross being added to the already huge roster of racing disciplines this is shaping up to be a true racing sim that can cater for all.
If they get the controller controls sorted out this time which they certainly did not for the first which put off people without a wheel then this might just be the best racing game yet.
Project Cars 2 looks a lot more interesting than GT: Sport to me. It seems a lot more focused on the Sim side where weather really makes an impact - with puddles forming, draining away and even wet mud that can be tracked on to the circuit and dry - all affecting the level of grip. Also features the largest track list too - all with these dynamic features...
Its the purists racer - same as it was when it launched in the same year as Drive Club and Forza 6 - you also had Dirt Rally and F1 that year too and Need for Speed (I believe)
Delaying it till spring next year would be the best idea.
Rhe first one with a driving wheel is the top sim on ps4. The second will improve from that and, qualitatively speaking, will shadow GT
I wasn't a fan of the original, which was surprising because I really enjoyed Slightly Mad Studios' Need for Speed Shift series. Even if this does turn out well, I feel like Gran Turismo Sport and Forza will have my attention over it.
This looks soooooo much better than GT Sport. This is coming from someone who has bought every Gt game at launch. Cant wait for this!!
This I might pick up. GT Sport - not so much.
I've found the beta for GT Sport utterly tedious, and I say that as a one-time HUGE fan of the GT series, having bought every single game including Prologues, up to and including GT5.
But it just feels like GT is stuck in the 90s; it's barely changed, and I don't find it fun any more. The online aspect just doesn't work for me. You still ping off barriers and carry on, and you still get rammed off the track by those who can't or won't take it seriously. While I haven't deleted it yet, I haven't played it for weeks either.
I enjoyed the first one immensely, and i'm much more likely to give this a whirl before GT. Obviously a demo for both would be ideal, but, we rarely get those anymore, do we? Maybe an open beta?
I still have the first game barely untouched because I just couldn't enjoy it with a pad. Ever since hammering GT5 with a racing wheel it spoilt playing sim type racers like this without one.
