Horizon: Zero Dawn has returned to the summit of the UK sales charts, after being reduced nationwide as part of the Days of Play promotion. Aloy’s adventure managed to keep new Nintendo Switch exclusive ARMS at arm’s-length – though it was retailing at double the price on a significantly smaller install base, so that’s to be expected.
WipEout Omega Collection – last week’s champion – slipped out of the podium positions into fifth, as the likes of Tekken 7, Overwatch, Injustice 2, and Rocket League rounded out the remaining top spots. PlayStation VR Worlds and Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End both returned to the Top 40, as MotoGP 17 entered in 18th place.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 17th June, 2017
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- ARMS
- Grand Theft Auto V
- DiRT 4
- WipEout Omega Collection
- Tekken 7
- FIFA 17
- Overwatch
- Injustice 2

Damn it. I was wrong.
That's probably less than 5,000 for ARMS. It's just the UK, but those aren't amazing FW sales.
Arms-length. I see what you did there...
Aloy back on 1st place again can't wait for the frozen wilds dlc comes out this year
Just got HZD its an awesome game
I know some Zelda fans may disagree but for me (as in my opinion), Horizon:ZD is my Game of the Year. Looking ahead, I can't see it being challenged either. That's not to say some great games are releasing in the next 6months but this is still likely to be my GotY. Can't wait to play the Frozen Wilds either...
I want Arms thou, looks fun
OMG that makes me so happy ) my fav game and I have to say it again since Sony put the digital numbers to the number trackers it's proving how freakin' important exclusives are!! Wipeout still in top 5 too. Awesome
@BAMozzy yeah I'm so hyped for Frozen Wilds - new machines to hunt. Plus the PS Plus offers a solid discount for pre-ordering.
@Morenoj1220 where she belongs #FrozenWildsHype
Put a game on sale, announce DLC, have a sizable install base. Sounds like a winning combination to me.
Of course then you get the odd balls like me who were supposed to buy the game on sale this week but decided to wait for the DLC instead. I own Zelda and still haven't started that yet, waiting for the DLC to drop next week. I really should have waited on FFXV, the slow year long DLC roll out doesn't mesh with my personality.
Breaking Dawn!
Can't wait for the Frozen Wilds. Preordered in a heartbeat with that PS+ discount.
I wish I liked Horizon more. Maybe I'm just sick of open world games?
Nice, this is my next game after I'm done playing ultra street fighter 4 and finishing a couple of nier automata last trophy, I think one of the story trophy doesn't work (we await your next visit).
Until then, horizon stay in its steelcase
@BAMozzy I agree 100% and I've finished Zelda too, the world they made for Zelda is incredible but Horizon is better is almost every measurable way from visuals to story and the combat against the machines in particular is superb
I'm surprised ARMS didn't have the legs to reach a wider audience
@BAMozzy The GOTY discussion is weird for me. I don't think Zelda is perfect, but I don't think it's bad either. I've cited the issues I have with the game on several occasions, yet I still put over a 100 hundred hours into the game. I still think my vote goes to Horizon. Combat is actually fun in Horizon.
I think Super Mario Odyssey is a great GOTY contender. I like what I've seen so far. Might be my favourite game of the year, who knows!?
These sort of sale are great. I first bought Infamous and uncharted 2 in a sale like this and have played EVERY game in those series ever since. Its good way to expand the audience. Cannot wait for The Frozen Wilds!!! #HZDGoTY
Arms as a new IP has still done well to get so high, Nintendo games often sell consistently for a long time so i can see it doing well over the course of the Switch's lifespan, especially if the free DLC they're promising comes out over an extended period of time.
Shows how crazy this year is for great games, i still haven't got Horizon, really want it but just don't have the cash right now, might wait for the DLC now before getting it, don't think i'll be able to get the Crash remasters for a while either, seeing as my money will be going on Hey Pikmin and Splatoon 2 next, 2017 will go down as a vintage year i think
@Toadie Horizon is such an awesome game! Hope you get to play soon.
@Octane @carlos82 Each to their own of course. I was just trying to avoid getting into arguments with people saying Zelda is going to be the GotY for example.
I am not criticising Zelda but the story, acting, sound design, combat etc just doesn't seem to match up to the quality of Horizon and Mario Odyssey doesn't look as 'deep' either. In a lot of ways, not that far removed from Mario 64 with a 'new' mechanic (the hat) but principally the same game - hub worlds to run around collecting coins/Stars (or power moons in this case). Maybe 'fun' but its still the same core elements we saw over 20yrs ago - collect enough coins to unlock Hubs until you can get to and beat Bowser to rescue Princess Peach. The hubs maybe bigger, better looking now but its core principal is still the same. The hat may offer a few more 'unique' elements but to a degree its 'similar' to getting the flying hat to access areas you couldn't in Mario 64. Still people will love it because its 'Mario'...
As I said, I didn't want to be drawn into this type of discussion so was trying to emphasise that for me, my personal opinion, Horizon:ZD is my Game of the Year and even looking ahead at the games I am looking to buy, I can't see where a challenge could come from to knock it from that perch. I have no problem with someone thinking Zelda or Mario - or even any of the other releases this year could be their Game of the Year but H:ZD is almost certainly going to be mine!
Hard to see anything else hitting 1st place, you're getting a helluva game for at least 30% off. Especially when compared to a fighter that's light on content.
Personally, I don't dig the exposition-heavy plot or jumping/climbing mechanics in HZD, but hunting things sure is fun.
@3Above Haha i will at some point for sure, i still have games like Nier Automata, The Last Guardian and even Until Dawn that i haven't even touched yet so i'm really going to try and get through some of my Ps4 backlog this summer, same goes for my 3DS games, i am getting so behind lol
@BAMozzy I think that's fair enough, everyone has their own preferences, it would be boring if we all liked the same things and had exactly the same opinions, i do think you're doing Odyssey a disservice saying it's just 64 2 though, it looks hugely inventive and creative to me, and is a type of platformer Nintendo hasn't attempted to make since Mario Sunshine.
Breath of the Wild is my current GOTY but i have a feeling either Odyssey or Metroid:Samus Returns will eclipse it, i love how every company is having a good year and we're seeing great games across a wide variety of genres, awesome to see japanese games having a resurgence too.
@Toadie Same here. I still need to go bck to TLG, i only got 2hrs in before i started Gravity Rush 2. And i still would like to try injustice 2
@3Above A few of my friends in my facebook group are raving about Injustice 2, Grav Rush 2, that's another one i need to pick up, there's just not enough time to play all these great games haha
@BAMozzy Fair enough. I thought you meant ''not being challenged'' in general, and not as in your own personal opinion.
@Toadie Did I say Mario Oddysey was just SM64 2?? No I said the basic core principal of the game is still the same principal it was in SM64 and basically all 3D Mario games after that. Doesn't make this a 'sequel' to a 20+yr old game. Its like saying Assassins Creed:Origins is still the same core experience as the first AC game or Uncharted4 is the same basic formulae that Uncharted established for its franchise. U4 obviously has a number of things that were quite new and unique - like actually driving a vehicle, tagging enemies, wide linear areas etc but the game was still very much an Uncharted game. It did bring of course a new Story, more character depth and the emotional journey that a unique (in that it was unique to these characters) story brings and culminating in a 'conclusion' for my journey with these people.
Oddyssey is in exactly the same bracket - still at its core the same basic premise that Mario 64 established. Yes it may have 'new' mechanics that 'change' the game-play slightly - in that you now have a 'Hat' to take over characters or access areas you couldn't with previous games but the basic core principal is still the same as it always is. I can tell from your name and GT that you are a fan of Mario so you will buy it up regardless, love it regardless but for me, after SM64, Mario Sunshine and the Galaxy games, I don't want yet another family friendly, 3D Mario plaformer collectathon to yet again rescue Peach from Bowser. Its only moderately 'inventive and Creative' in that they had to bring something 'new' but the 'principal' design and core structure isn't particularly new at all. SM64 for example, had multiple Hub worlds with unique environments, many 'coins' to collect - each with its own set of 5 'Stars' - often requiring revisiting once you have 'enough' stars to unlock a certain ability - like flight to be able to get the final few 'stars' which in turn unlocks another 'Hub' world to 'collect' more again. The same core principal through out - with a few 'minor' 'new' mechanics and obviously the 'new' aesthetics that improved Hardware allows. Now if you are a 'fan' of this, or find these 'fun' then more 3D Mario is 'exciting'.
As I said I didn't want to get into a 'discussion' about these and that in my opinion, H:ZD is my (again 'MY') game of the year. Its more than 'just' a game - something 'just' to play for 'fun' but that's MY opinion and 'each' is entitled to theirs....
@Octane No I meant that I can't see H:ZD being 'challenged' for MY personal Game of the Year. I do intend to buy games like Uncharted: Lost Legacy (which I expect to be fantastic), AC:O, SW:BF2, Wolfenstein, etc etc but by the end of the year, I can't see a release that will change my opinion from H:ZD as my Game of the Year.
Others may feel that Mario (for example) has 'enough' about it to push H:ZD for their Game of the Year but for me, I can't see any game pushing H:ZD from that spot in my list.
@Toadie Nope! Neir is on my to play list as well. And i still hold ot hope of getting Ratchet and Clank on sale. Not enough time in the year!
@BAMozzy Woah defensive much ? !!! did you skip over the part where i said i respected your personal preference and that it'd be boring if we all liked the same thing ? jeez
Eve so i still don't get your point, you can break every single game down to its component parts and say its been done before, yes, including Horizon, it doesn't take away from a games quality.
Also, don't try to dismiss me based on my username, i like Mario but i'm no fanboy, i can (and have been) hugely critical of Nintendo in the past, they make lots of stupid decisions and are rightly called out on them.
@3Above haha yeah R&C is on my list too, my ever growing list lol
I think Nier might be my next game actually, i was still finishing a few other things when i got it but was hugely excited to play it, Platinum are a great developer
@Toadie it's an interesting game and a little tricky at times to know where to go to find stuff/quests. Combat fast fluid and furious
I was one of those that grabbed Horizon last week during the sale. So far, I'm really enjoying it.
@smythelove The combat does look amazing, argh you guys are tempting me to get it now lol
@Toadie lol it's worth it. So far Persona 5 is #1 for me.
A sale, a big DLC announcement and bam, right back to the top. Nice to see as this is one of the best games of the year, and best new IP this gen, without a shadow of a doubt. Will be interested in its NPD performance. It was tracking near the top of of Amazon's charts when the sale started and rose a bit after the E3 conference.
Surprised that Arms got so high in the UK.
Regarding Horizon, haven't touched my copy yet as I need to wrap up a couple of other games first. And it is not because of the DLC because that is useless if by any chance I do not like the base game. I love Zelda BOTW and so far it is my GOTY but I am not getting the current DLC as it looks underwhelming. Still need to go through Horizon, P5 and Nier, and wait for Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 to decide a personal GOTY.
I was going to buy a Switch last week until I realised there is absolutely no stock available, so I bought Horizon in the sale instead. I love it so far
