Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy not hard enough for you? Fancy a free level? Activision’s launched the unreleased Stormy Ascent stage on the PlayStation Store today – and it’s free through 19th August, which is nice. Of course, we already more or less knew this was coming due to the original title’s Trophy list.
If you don’t know, Naughty Dog created the Stormy Ascent stage but decided it was just too darn challenging to include in the final PSone release. The game shipped without access to it, but the code remained on the CD-ROM, and was later discovered via Game Shark. It’ll take even competent players a good 50 or so lives to beat, so have fun everyone!

😂 I'm dreading this! There'll be another level released at some point too! Something similar yo temple ruins maybe.
@Kyroki Not as much as High Road. Ugh.
Tried it, first part wasn't too hard but then I realized that I started the level with only 1 life so I died and didn't try again! Maybe I'll try it tomorrow
So let me guess, if the level is from the original release, that means the remake made it even harder?
@sinalefa Considering this level has stupid precise timing and jumps in Crash 1 and it was considered too hard...I am dreading this with the new physics.
Jf it required precision like that initially I darent think...
Meh, beat it already. Sure it was challenging, but I usually always have 99 lives in Crash 1.
Thanks for the heads up. I have dl for when I finally get the game. Fair play to Activision on this occassion, the game is reasonably priced, and they could easily have charged for this.
I don't know if it's just me, but I haven't found the collection MORE HARD as what is being told...it seems to be the same to me,
Bring it on!
Oooh nice one. I don't quite understand why it's only free for a month but whatever. It's nice to have another reason to dive into this.
Crash Bandicoot: Dark Souls Edition ;p
Will be giving it a go and trying not to turn the air blue.
I was expecting it to be super hard, but it's pretty beatable if your timing's good and you have plenty of patience. I died 24 times, but a good deal of those were from careless mistakes.
It must have been terrible on the PS1 though. Needing to restart it would drive me nuts.
I didn't find it too bad considering what people had been saying about it. It was certainly easier than Road to Nowhere which had me swearing and growling at the TV. In this the main challenge was the timing so I just counted in my head when platforms appeared. The worst stretch is in the middle with a lot of spiky balls and disappearing stairs.
This level wasn`t really all that hard, people don`t know there are MUCH harder platformers.......Rayman.....Battletoads......Hagane: the Final Conflict, etc.
