Update: Tim Neff has no knowledge of Grand Theft Auto VI at all. "That isn't my page, account, or resume," he said of the resume which supposedly leaked. "I don't even know that website. I worked on Grand Theft Auto 5 a long time ago and haven't done anything since."
Original Story: Grand Theft Auto 6 is obviously an inevitability, but will it be arriving sooner than we think? That's a question people are attempting to answer after spotting the title on an actor's resume. According to Tim Neff's credentials, he's done some motion capture for the game, which is generally something that's handled later in a title's production.
By no means does this prove that we're getting Grand Theft Auto 6 next year or anything like that, but it perhaps shines a light on developer Rockstar's priorities. With Red Dead Redemption 2 out in 2018, it makes sense that the company would be piecing its other open world property together behind the scenes. Grand Theft Auto V first debuted in 2013, after all.
What are your hopes and dreams for Grand Theft Auto 6? Take bets on a release date in the comments section below.

I've never actually finished 5 on ps3 or ps4. They need to take some of the ridiculous out of it and give us a more realistic story. Along the lines of mafia-style.
So does anyone else here think this will end up being another cross-generation title like GTA V was? I could see this coming out on PS4 in 2019, and also on PS5 the next year.
@Turismo4GT A definite possibility given the success of GTAV but I don't think we can count out backwards compatibility for the PS5. I think at this point Sony would be mental not to have a library of PS4 games available on PS5 as soon as it launches.
Hmm interesting. Personally, I can't seem them not milking the GTA-V cash cow for as long as possible. I would potentially see them doing a Vice City stories style spin off that brings new areas or cities to their existing GTA V world. If it is an incrementally new game, got to be 2020 for a release.
@ShogunRok Good point, given the PS5 most likely will retain a PC-like x86 (or compatible) architecture, backward compatibility should be a given.
By the mighty Allfather, my day just lit up.
@daveofduncan Na, I couldn't imagine a serious GTA game without all of the pop references and satire.
GTAVI is inevitable at some point but my mind and soul are ready for some more Red Dead.
If I had to bet, I would say October 2019 release at the earliest. Interested to see what type of character/s they opt for. I would love for them to change the era and do something based in the 70's. Chances are they will keep it current.
Can they get GTA 5 and 6 to the top of the sales charts at the same time!?
I know things change often in the industry and you can't always take people's words as gospel but Rockstar have often hinted that they'd like to be able to release their properties more frequently and have different IPs release almost every year.
Something like:
2018: RDR2
2019: GTA VI
2020: Max Payne 4
2021: Bully 2
2022: RDR3
Of course production on their titles takes a lot longer than some other developers due to the consistent high quality of them.
Hopefully we'll hear something official about GTA 6 at some point in 2018. After all, it's coming up to the 10 year anniversary of GTA IV's release (April 2008) and it's mad to think that such a successful series had only released one game since that time. (Not counting the albeit excellent DLC expansions of GTA IV).
@daveofduncan Nope. That's what's bad in GTA IV, they went for realism and the game becomes 0 fun down the line...
Look at GTA San Andreas, the best GTA ever, the missions were crazy...Area 51 stealing jetpacks, saving Mad Dogg from falling down a roof, Dancing with Cars...they tried it a little bit in GTA 5 and (in my opinion) the missions were fun but not quite GTA SA fun...but the game itself is MILES AWAY in terms of gameplay! If they do realism again everyone will be pissed again
@roe I would throw at least 1 new IP in there and I DOUBT they can do yearly releases xD This is Rockstar, they take their time and also they dont need the money
@AFCC oh yeah, I'd love them to make a new IP sooner rather than later as well. I'm not saying that's the kind of schedule they'd stick to, but I've heard a few of their key people talking along those lines for a while now.
I hope GTA VI goes back to Vice City. We have already gone back to Liberty City in IV and San Andreas in V, it would only make sense that VI takes place in Vice City.
Vice City was the sweet spot for me. The music and visuals came together so well I spent more time smiling than any other game I can remember.
@AFCC I liked Vice City way better i loved the setting.
When will Rockstar kill Agent? It's clearly not coming in my lifetime.
vice city all the way for me too
I only ever played the story of GTA V not really interested in the other elements. Its still very popular and sellling well so not sure they would be in any rush to bring out the next game. No doubt they are working on some element of the game.
They better have an extreme metal station this time grrrr. Also i hope bully 2 sees the light of day. That game is easily one of my favs
So this will be the one starring Motifa as she rises out of the ocean to punish all the wicked people, and start a rooftop zoo empire... right?
Fall 2019 a slim chance would be awesome with PS5 launch, most likely Fall 2020 when Xbox 2 launches.
@AFCC they went that way with GTA V and it's the best selling GTA to date...
@ApostateMage I'm actually looking forward to RDR2 more myself.
Hoping gta6 will set around late 80's early 90's with multi characters Think 'new jack city' or 'colors' movies
Maybe we play on the police side as well with 1 of the characters. If not the I would love a return to vice city
@Rudy_Manchego This individual knows what's up
@FreakerZ - if that's the sound you're going for, make sure they lease the New Jack Swing compilations from Mastercuts on radio stations...
Rockstar are naturally beavering away at both RDR / GTA6, but there's a mammoth difference in emphasis between prior releases, that now driven by the fan base of GTA Online. The stream of free DLC, which adds RPG elements to already genre-defining mechanics, is refreshing its core game with deeper and deeper layers. There's still no credible alternative and GTA5 has withstood and wasted the likes of Watch Dogs and other pretenders. It's still the most visceral game and seamless in switching between driving and shooting on foot, so much creative freedom and style.
I reckon 2019 for GTA6, just being back the live comedy club gigs, Ricky Gervais was fantastic in 4!
@daveofduncan
No thanks. The ridiculous is part of what makes GTA, GTA. They went more serious with 4 and can't say I enjoyed it that much.
@daveofduncan Agreed, GTA needs more serious storylines, don't get me wrong I'm not saying they should ditch the fun/humor parts. NO, that's a part of GTA but look at GTAIV, that game was incredible... sure, GTAV did go beyond IV with gameplay and Graphics, but focusing on three characters made them way simpler than others like Carl Johnson and Niko Bellic...
I think it will coming at 2019 , like last GEN they will make it on end of the GEN , why? Because they can sell it better
Remember GTA V , they published on ps3 and xbox then they said we have plans for new GEN too! Then they published it for Ps4 and Xone , after all they published it for pc
So, it's a good plan to do it again on this GEN with new game like GTA6
Anyway R* has made a good money from GTA V and they don't need new things
@daveofduncan That's what I mean, people prefer fun over realism I guess
@Flaming_Kaiser Vice City is great, my first GTA, and it had some crazy missions -> looking at you Candy Suxxx
@roe I hope so! They have too much talent to keep doing sequels...
