Guardians rejoice: the Destiny 2 open beta is finally here. Or at least, it will be in a few hours depending on when you're reading this article. The beta's been in early access for around three days now and the reception has been a little bit mixed. The usual "Destiny 1.5" criticisms are floating around, and people reckon power cooldowns are way too slow outside of the player-versus-player environment. Other than that, though, this seems to be more polished, satisfying shooting from Bungie.
As always, though, we're here to ask what you think. Will you be playing the beta this weekend? Have you already dipped into early access over the last few days? Let us know if you'll be returning to the (burning) Tower by voting in our polls and posting in the comments section below.

Was in the alpha and beta for the first, but didn't buy the game.
Won't be bothering with anything for the second.
Yep sure will
Yes and looking forward to it, I would have pre ordered to play early but I was working all week anyway
I've always been intersted with the idea of Destiny but I rarely return to games and not a huge fan of MP so not for me. That said, I agree this game is going to be huge. I would of said the only game that could beat it this year would be Red Dead 2 but now that has been moved, this will steam roll it all I think.
Might play the beta but doesn't look likely, will probably just pick this up when it's cheap next year anyways, if I'm not too busy with other games!
Will play beta, but waiting for reviews before buying.
If the Beta ever becomes available to non pre orders and I'm about to download it, I might give it a shot but at the minute it's still unavailable.
Found the first game technically proficient but soulless and quickly lost interest. Would be interested to see what's changed.
@shogunrok I'll be having a crack at it over the next few days. Love the tag line , by the way!
Sorry destiny, I hear Spatoon calling.
Yeah played it early this week I'd rather call it a demo than a beta , looks like there keeping the places you can see under wraps , but some gripes but mostly good stuff .
Love how they revamped pvp no more shotgun zergs , and ability spam , actually feels team and skill based. I think I will give destiny 2 a go at full launch , but if it is same bs they pulled b4 then this is my last go around.
I kinda feel like I don't even need to play it to know exactly what to expect. Nah, I'm out — I'll give the full game a fair shake, but I have better things to do this weekend.
I'll try it only because I love a bit of character creation. I tried the demo again of the first Destiny not so long ago, but just like the first time I got a bit bored of it after an hour or so.
Yeah I'll give it a try, the original Destiny was like Borderlands without the personality, here's hoping it's an improved experience.
Not interested at this time. I'd be more likely to renew my FF XIV account than play this right now.
I'm out of town. But I'm bringing my PS4 on the road trip with me! I can't wait to play Minecraft and Rocket League in the backseat of my car with my sis!
@OneArmedGiant
Yep, same here. If Splatoon didn't come out today I might have given it a go, but I don't have time for Destiny right now. Nor the urge to play it, even though I loved the first one for a couple of months.
This weekend (just like the previous two), I have been mostly eating... Elite Dangerous.
Played and love the first game all the way through all expansions and DLC but this beta is so much shallower than the one Destiny 1 had. The amount of missions and pvp maps is ok but no open world area (even a limited sized one) to run around or loot to check out means I got bored very quickly. For a demo it's fine but for a beta there's much too little content to properly test anything.
Is this beta all pvp stuff? Worth downloading for one who wishes to play solo?
Add another vote for the inklings. Just downloaded it and I gotta reach level 4 to try Salmon Run.
Is it just me or does the Nessus strike remind you of VoG in terms of how it looked? Even the final boss looked like that boss in one of Venus story missions back in D1.
@Gatatog You do know a Beta is not a demo? Thay are stress testing hence why thay've locked off free roam.
How you do you play the Beta if their is nothing to download? Its 6pm and still no open Beta download.
Edit that you can start downloading now.
Had vanilla since day one and was sooo bummed with everything that I'll wait for reviews and maybe a "complete edition" of some sorts. There are so many games out there and on my backlog ...
@banacheck Hence why I said that the content is enough for a demo but it isn't enough to properly test the game - the whole point of a beta.
I won't be touching the Beta at all. But at some point when Destiny 2 has been out a while and I can get to see whether I want to go back to the that world or not and it's cheap with a few DLCs bundled together I might break.
@ApostateMage - The first thing you do in the beta is a play a mission from the story. After that, you can try PVP or PVE.
Nope, and ill be waiting for atleast a month after release to let the initial hype die down and the realities and shortcomings of the game sink in more before taking the plunge.
Safe to say I felt a bit burned by the Destiny experience last time.
I know I would enjoy it but my main resolution is to try and get through backlog of games and the only way to do this is to avoid multiplayer games ( even BF1 ) .
So far managed to do Inside , Firewatch (almost) , Titanfall 2 , Until Dawn and have been playing the Witcher almost exclusively since March. Still got to begin - Horizon Zero Dawn , Fallout 4 , FF15 , Dishonoured , Dishonoured 2 , Gravity Rush , Alien Isolation , Wolfenstein Old Blood and others I've forgot I've even bought.
Multiplayer just stops me actually getting anywhere in backlog. 🙁
I played the story bit of the beta and it was all a bit stale. I want to like Destiny but it just isn't for me.
