Ghost Recon: Wildlands' player versus player mode, titled Ghost Wars, launches for free later today as part of an update. Ubisoft has had the competitive mode in the works for a few months now, and after some hefty downtime throughout the day, it'll be made available to everyone who owns the game. We reckon it'll probably be part of a typically large patch, so be prepared for a weighty download.
The developer took the title offline this morning at 08:00 UK time, and the servers won't be back on until 18:00 UK time. That's a whole ten hours of maintenance. When everything's up and running, you'll be able to nab the aforementioned update, which will apparently also include some campaign fixes.
Anyway, Ghost War pits two teams of four against each other in huge open maps. It's got classes, upgrades, and all that stuff. Props to Ubisoft for continuing to build upon the release -- a release that was already stuffed with content to begin with.

Probably quite fun to play PVP as a group. I played some of the timed demo a couple of months ago with a friend, it was okay. Can see PVP being a bit more exciting though.
I played and completed it and it was an alright but buggy game, not that bothered about coming back to it.
Enjoyed it as a single-player/co-op title, but finished it ages ago. PvP is of no interest to me personally, and won't bring me back to the game. In fact, when I put my PS4 on later, I'll probably cancel the download and uninstall the game, ready to sell on or trade in.
Two teams of four? That's 23 less than there should be...

No it doesn't, the maps are small with a boundary around them. Single player/coop has huge open maps, but not Ghost War tdm.
