Sony has teamed up with Numskull to create some official gaming glasses, a product which the manufacturer claims will give gamers a competitive edge. In actual fact, these are just spectacles with standard filters applied to the lenses, meaning that they’re more likely to prevent headaches than transform you into a PlayStation 4 professional.

In truth, this author recently upgraded his prescription glasses to a pair with blue light filters, and they do make staring at screens all day that bit more bearable. But at £24.99/$37.99 with a nice blue pouch included, we reckon that Numskull is overselling these a teensy bit – and it’s barmy to think that they’re officially licensed.

You'd have to be a right Numskull to buy them!
Didn't see that coming.
We're just some licensed coffins away from KISS territory right now.
@VotesForCows It's going to be all black with the classic Triangle, Cross, Square and Circle symbols on top. But the circle will be a window so you can see my face through it while I'm in there.
be ready to PWNED
not
no enemy-auto-tracking or press-x-to-headshot filters?? pfft.. That's me out then. I don't wear glasses so I'm certainly not wearing them to be as bad as usual..
Just install an ambot instead.
Need these in my life. Get headaches a lot
Goes great with the offically licenced Sony VR motion sickness wrist bands and limited edition Kontrol Freaks.
For the wannabe players.
@johnny30 Real-talk: get a proper eye-test done. I only need glasses on the computer, but the UV filter and slight magnification in one eye has eradicated the headaches I used to get a lot, so maybe you just need a mild prescription.
Will this work if you are playing an Xbox console? Lol
@shonenjump86 No.
Sony is really going after this merchandise thing they announced gate grand order glasses too.
I bought a pair if Gunnars well before they were over marketed and over priced. They certainly do help reduce eye strain, but that's is all they'll do. They are more applicable to PC gamers or anyone playing on a monitor. In that regrades though, there are plenty of applications you can run that would do the same thing.
@Bliquid5 : Shouldn't a blue light filter make everyone warm, not blue? It's the blue light that causes more eye strain, so the filter/lens should be lowering blue light, not secluding it.
@Simon_Fitzgerald
I'll stick with my rose-tinted ones that block out lootboxes.
@Gremio108 Nice!
Yes but shouldn't he be playing instead of leaning against a wall and gazing into the distance? Or is that it; the glasses just get you to wistfully daydream about what an awesome player you are now you have those glasses? Why bother playing when no one is worthy of your ultimately superior gaming prowess now you wear the specs?
And what's with the jacket and shirt buttoned to the neck? What gamer plays dressed like that? Who is this guy? We want answers?
Well, there are a lot of gullible people out there.
Or just take a break for free....
@nathanSF Hahah
@get2sammyb just noticed your reply in my emails, had a eye test recently and nothing has changed in my prescription for my normal glasses
