“Who cares about Crash Bandicoot?” the sceptics said. “He’s just a product of 90s nostalgia!” But we told you that the N. Sane Trilogy was going to do big business for Activision, owing to the fact that you lot clicked on any articles we wrote about the character in droves. And we were right: Vicarious Visions’ brilliant remaster-cum-remake is the best-selling remaster collection on the PlayStation 4.
To be fair, the publisher’s being pretty specific there, but it means that it’s already outsold the likes of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, which isn’t bad at all. Other high profile compilations on the PS4 include Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection and Batman: Return to Arkham. Not bad for an “edgy” ‘coot, eh?
Hopefully the success of the N. Sane Trilogy will result in more re-releases next year – specifically, Crash Team Racing.

Deservedly so. Also with each passing month it seems more and more likely that this will indeed stay a PS exclusive .
I wonder if they hit some kind of sales milestone that guaranteed it's exclusivity?
Weren't there a bunch of leaks about it coming to other platforms come Xmas?
That deserves a victory dance and a woah!
@Fight_Teza_Fight Probably timed for a year. There were rumours about Christmas on other systems, though, you're right.
Fair play, from what I understand, a good remaster and good value for three games that were quite beloved. Nostalgia is like, so in right now.
Good for Crash, well deserved.
Congrats for crash, next ctr remaster please
CTR and Crash Bash (with mp) in a bundle would be perfect for me
I'm not surprised, the remaster is fantastic.
I don't know where this comes from but according to VGChartz, Crash has sold less than 3m where as Last of Us (Remastered) has sold 5.84m and Nathan Drake collection has sold 5.21m
Given that all other information from other sources stated that Crash reached the 2.5m in Sept and NO site has stated its reached 3m yet, Its still a LONG way from eclipsing the two ND remasters!!
The 'Uncharted' one is also a collection if they are being 'specific' about a remaster 'collection' rather than just a remaster of a single game like 'Last of Us'. If its 'collection' only, then this is a list of the remastered collections::
Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection
Batman: Return to Arkham
BioShock: The Collection
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Bundle
Quantic Dream Collection
Resident Evil: Origins Collection
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
WipEout Omega Collection
In which case, if we are talking 'collections only' it is in 2nd place behind Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection.
Claiming something (as Activision have) and it actually being 'fact' are two different things of course - I really can't see Crash suddenly selling over 2.5m in two months to surpass Uncharted.
http://www.vgchartz.com/platform/69/playstation-4/
16: Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection: 5.21m
44: Crash Bandicoot N'Sane Trilogy: 2.68m
Even in Europe where Crash sold best, it hasn't beaten Uncharted sales figure. NA sales are 'poor' for Crash with not even a million sales compared to 2.3m (almost as many as Crash sold globally) that Uncharted has in NA.
Incidentally, its not even the best selling PS4 Exclusive this year either as HZD has sold 3.73m to become the 4th best selling PS4 exclusive (with U4 top, Last of Us (remaster) 2nd and Nathan Drake Collection 3rd). Its done very well and currently sat in 8th position in the best selling exclusives behind Killzone, Infamous and Bloodborne in 5th, 6th and 7th respectively.
Thanks Activision for proving remasters dont have to be from the previous gen to sell. This is the only PS4 remaster I have.
Now Sega, your turn. Bring Ryo back already!
Wonder how it will sell when it releases for Xbox. 🤔
@Fight_Teza_Fight i think it's a RotTR/Dead Rising 4 situation so it'll probably announced for other platforms closer to June next year.
@viciousarcanum It won't match PS4 sales for certain - I can't see a 'higher' percentage of owners buying it to make up for the smaller install base. I can see it being popular on Switch though...
Not surprising, but well deserved. Now bring on more Crash.
@BAMozzy VGC****** is complete rubbish. You can't trust them in matters like this, and you shouldn't even link them.
If there is one game from PS1 era that needs a remake, it’s gotta be MGS. Imagine that with today’s tech, mind blown.
It also shows that PS fans really like Crash Bandicoot, I also hope that it stays exclusive, Crash Bandicoot belongs to PlayStation.
Now I would love Spyro trilogy remastered.
Hopefully it comes to Switch, PC, and Xbox One. It will sell even more copies, then one day maybe we can get a new Crash game. I still prefer the PS1 versions of Crash 2 and 3 though.
@PS_Nation Spyro would be awesome too. But I disagree and think it should go multiplatform. My first experience with Crash was on the Gamecube.
@waluigifan1 With these sales, they already can fund a new Crash Bandicoot and the same will happen with Spyro, there is no need to go multi at all. It's also expensive to port a game to another platform. Exclusives matter and are important to the industry, competition is a wonderful thing.
@Mahe VGC are not 'complete bunk' as you put it and are in the right 'ballpark' as far as sales go. Obviously, like others (NPD etc), they are not able to include certain areas - like Digital Sales for example but they are still 'relatively' accurate - if a month behind.
If you can find ANY sales figures that contradict this - considering in Sept, Crash passed the 2.5m mark (as reported in many places - and only VGC have more 'up to date' figures) and then compare to any official figures for Nathan Drake collection, you will find that Crash has sold around 50% the figure.
At best, Crash can claim to be the Best selling 3rd-party remaster collection on PS4. I did quite a bit of research before I posted - and went with VGC because it had more -up to date' and therefore the highest figures for Crash Bandicoot. If I went with all the others, those that reported Crash had surpassed the 2.5m mark, then the gap to ND's collection would have been greater. Not one report I read has Crash exceeding 3m yet ND collection has sold over 5m!
Don't get all upset because the facts don't agree with your fiction!
Not going to lie I wouldn't mind Crash staying exclusive as well because seeing him on anything else feels off. And if anyone doesn't like that opinion then your getting a big fat blowing raspberry in your direction, you've been warned
I think that last sentence actually reads- "Hopefully the success of the N. Sane Trilogy will result in new games for Crash."
Nothing against CTR, but after a long period of nothing and the sudden success of N. Sane Trilogy, I'd rather see a completely new game, not another remaster/remake. Either way, I am happy that Crash is back, provided Activision doesn't screw up again.
@BAMozzy
Yeah agree about what you said ,
I still don't find 2.68m disappointment , at least for us Crash fans .
After over years of disappointment from Crash in PS2 era
@DerMeister
Agree CTR and Bash can be saved for later
Now Crash needs a new fresh game .
@BAMozzy
The game obiviously won't be on switch or any other console .
I think Sony own Crash in somehow but not officially .
@RollerGlower I wasn't criticising the sales achievement at all - as I said its the 8th biggest selling Exclusive and not that far behind Bloodborne, Infamous and Killzone - all 3 are under 3m and all 4 of these are separated by ~200k. Not bad for a game that only released a few months ago.
I was just criticising Activisions claims that Crash was the best selling PS4 remaster or remastered collection - because its not.
Sony do not own Crash either, that is now owned by Activision and its entirely possible and incredibly likely that Activision agreed with Sony a year exclusivity - maybe because those 3 were originally on Sony's platform but Activision own Crash now - not Sony or Naughty Dog and have the right to do what they want with the licence.
@BAMozzy VGC****** doesn't deal with facts. They offer only fiction. Why do you think their numbers differ from all the official sources?
@waluigifan1 @PS_Nation @TheIronChimp @Lumine Same here, I'd love to see a Spyro Trilogy Remake/Remaster !
@DerMeister Agreed I'd rather have a new Crash Bandicoot game at this point.
Cool, now do Crash Team Racing, that's the Crash game I want to see.
With the large number of folks that have jumped ship to Sony this gen I'm pretty surprised this beat out uncharted collection and gow.
I hope they do Crash Bash and Crash Team Racing soon to
