Horizon: Zero Dawn would have been a comfortable Game of the Year winner in most other years, so we do feel a tinge of sadness for Guerrilla Games in that regard. Fortunately, the PlayStation Blog awards have practically presented Aloy’s adventure with a clean sweep – it probably would have scooped Best Sports Game if it was eligible in that category.
So, what did it win? Stick with us here: Best PS4 Game, Best Performance (Ashly Burch), Best Art Direction, Best Soundtrack, Best Story, Best Post-Release Content, Best PlayStation Console Exclusive, Best Use of PS4 Pro, and Studio of the Year. We don’t know about you guys, but we think PlayStation fans quite like Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Other notable winners include Resident Evil 7: Biohazard as best PlayStation VR Experience and Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice as Best Independent Game. Undertale was deemed Best PS Vita Game, while God of War edged out Red Dead Redemption 2 to take Most Anticipated Game. You can peruse the full list of winners through here.

word up son.God of war is the most anticipated games coming in 18.worddd uppp sonnn
According to GOTYpicks, a blog that aggregates all the goty awards, Horizon Zero Dawn is the second game with most awards, just behind Breath of the Wild.
Horizon Zero Dawn is my goty too.
As it should have.
It's almost like there wasnt anything else on PS.
Persona5 for me!
Archery, horseback riding, hunting, Horizon meets all the requirements for a sports game if you look hard enough. #robbed
@PS_Nation a very distant second, but second nonetheless
@eltomo yes! Persona 5 was hands down my favorite game this year
What was that about "Horizon Zero Awards"?
@Socia Still impressive considering all the great games released last year.
@PS_Nation true
I might nab the GOTY edition once the price drops to $25 or so. Patience really helped with The Witcher 3: that now regularly goes for $20 with all the DLC included.
@Neolit Senua
@Neolit Agreed!
Big up to my girl, Aloy. Seeker and rider of machines.
@Neolit Yeah it hurt so much having to choose between the two. I prefer Aloy as a character but Melina's full facial full motion capture performance is like no other. Love em both!
I can only assume that not enough people actually played it to gain the recognition it truly deserved in more 'general' gaming awards. At least it did get a lot of nominations.
In my opinion, it was definitely my game of the year. The only game that came close was Assassins Creed: Origins but even that (thoroughly worth getting too) didn't have the impact and sheer joy of taking on giant robot Dinosaurs and Aloy is definitely a better character than Bayek too.
Anyway - congrats to GG who captured my interest with their reveal and created a game that exceeded expectation!
Nice to see it winning prizes.
@Neolit which? (Ignore youve answered above)
I thought the old shaman woman was best performance in HZD tbh.
My favourite performance has to be Daiszaku Kuze from Yakuza zero. Great great acting and a real threatening character.
If you take CoD WW2 out and remove it from the list. Then grab Persona 5 and drag it up. Can be above Assassin's Creed Origins or Horizon Zero Dawn (doesn't matter to me because I had a hard time picking between those two), then you'd have my list down to Nier: Automata.
Ok I am about to cause huge controvosy here
Persona 5 was broing and I didnt like Hell blade thought both games were bland and drab p5 was just horrifically boring and just not fun.
I agree HZD was my GOTY by stupid margin its unreal and also I agree that ACO was brilliant infact its great totally what AC games should be like huge open world and diverse not same missions recycled over and over again love the live events.
Shame D2 turned into a poo storm though that game could of done well if things hadnt have gone so wrong lets hope bungie get it sorted out.
@FooYooChingDong That's enough of that, thanks.
