If you scoff at high-end OLED televisions, then perhaps you may be tempted by Sony’s new $30,000 short-throw projector. The uber-expensive device outputs in 4K (of course) at a peak brightness of 2,500 lumens, and can display images of up to 120-inches. It was announced at CES 2018 overnight, alongside a slew of other products you’ll never be able to afford.
To be fair, you’re getting some pretty nifty tech here. In addition to “unprecedented” picture quality, the projector also features a Glass Sound Speaker that generates 360-degree audio, and it’s got a centre speaker that’s designed to bounce sound off the wall that you’re projecting to. Time to start saving?

I've a big empty, white wall on the other side of the room. If someone has $30,000 to spare, I'm willing to buy one.
Only $30K eh? Hold on while I look under my couch cushions...
$30,000 Zimbabwean dollars and you got a deal (about 6p).
Hate to say it, but at huge picture sizes like 120", this rig might make all your content (games & movies) look terrible due to extreme blowup.
Such is the nature of Tech, every upgrade make you realize you need more upgrades...
I wouldn't recommend screen sizes this big unless you're rocking pristine discs like Dunkirk 4K or an Xbox X running games in full 4K.
As Chappie would say - 'I want it'
Great. When I’m buying bread and butter tomorrow, I will put one of these into basket too.
NOPE 👎🏻
I was much more impressed by the 85" 10000nit 8K prototype with the X1 Ultimate processor. It blows the ZD9 away and that is no slouch - an excellent TV - but compared to the ZD9, it looks like a budget HDR TV...
