Quite some time ago, Frictional Games promised to bring an update to its sci-fi horror title, SOMA, that would add a Safe Mode. The update has finally arrived, and you can download the patch now.
Safe Mode removes all enemy encounters, which many found to be out of place in SOMA's narrative driven experience. This allows you to play the game in relative peace, soaking in the atmosphere and the story without the threat of sudden enemy attacks.
Will you be playing SOMA again in Safe Mode? Perhaps the new mode will convince you to give the game a try? Try not to scare each other in the comments below.

I'll be completely honest, I'll probably play the game with safe mode. I realize this takes out the main point of horror games, but I'm not one who particularly enjoys playing horror games personally (I prefer to just watch others play them). I tried playing this game normally on two separate occasions and was too freaked out to continue.
The story of the game is really interesting, and the atomosphere and whatnot is top notch. The enemies absolutely suck. So this is probably the best way to play the game.
I could be tempted. I quite enjoyed the story, but found the enemy encounters a bit of an irritating distraction; they felt a little out of place.
I haven't played it any mode yet despite buying over 6 months ago !
I enjoyed the game as it is (was) and don't plan to play it again anytime soon. I don't see any replayability to be honest. Got all the achievements and I can't really forget the ending so no need to play it again. Great game tho and this mode makes sense.
Hmm this is tempting. I have Soma on my backlog but if I am honest, I am not keen on the run and hide concept in narrative games. I might try this in Safe mode.
@Paranoimia nice joke
