Developer Insomniac Games has confirmed that Spider-Man will be getting post-launch support in the form of three additional "chapters". According to the studio, these downloadable scenarios will feature new stories, missions, characters, villains, and costumes for Spidey himself. Other than that, we don't have much to go on right now, but it sounds like they're going to be expansions of a sort. The chapters will be dubbed 'Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps'.
Naturally, we'll hear more about these post-launch plans later down the line, but it'll be interesting to see what Insomniac has up its sleeve. Spider-Man has more than enough history to go off when it comes to additional adventures -- perhaps we'll be seeing lesser-known baddies?
As always, feel free to speculate like crazy in the comments section below.

@DLB3 I'd hope for a Miles story, a Miguel O'Hara/2099 story and possibly a Superior Otto story too.
That's pretty much all that would make me stump up more cash... unless they can add in a 'kick the crap out of JMS' story mission! ;-D
One of my favorite devs making a game based on one of my favorite characters. It pains me to say this but I feel like I should be more excited than I am. I'm sure the game will be good, but it doesn't look like it does enough differently to be great. I hope I'm wrong of course! But so far it looks like... well, just a competent Spider-Man game.
I think I'd have been more excited had the original rumors been true and Sucker Punch had been at the helm. An open world Spidey game with a karma system. If you go toward the dark side, you switch to the black suit or something.
But again, we'll see! I think Insomniac are keeping this one close to the chest so we probably haven't seen as much as we think we have. I will say that the swinging just looks okay, and the combat is basically what you'd expect.
I might just wait for the inevitable GOTY edition, then.
I hope they don’t just do some black suit/venom story quite happy they are using a lesser known villain in mr negative spidery has such a massive rogue gallery feel like venom has been the “popular” choice because most people sort of know the story.
@DLB3 perhaps, but the beauty of not being tied to a film license is freedom.
They can, and I hope they have, thrown everything including the kitchen sink in to the game.
@DLB3
Also, I'm dead serious about some bonus JMS bashing!
My hatred for that man's comic writing knows no bounds!
Until shown otherwise, I'm just gonna guess it's similar to Arkham Knight's Season of Infamy DLC. I am hoping there's good stuff in store.
@glassmusic As much as i liked the Infamous games i disliked the Karma system. It always was way to black and white. And I would love to see some more grey area. Not everything is good or bad.
@Flaming_Kaiser I really enjoyed the karma system.
The arguably easier, more violent 'evil' route may be a little on the nose - but they weren't really games about nuance 😆
Would be cool if you play as one of the villains, like Dr. Curt Connors (The Lizard).
@Flaming_Kaiser I think it worked within those games as they were basically comic books in video game form. It would definitely have to be nuanced up a bit for something like Spidey.
I think I'll get the $80 digital deluxe edition if there's no steelcase version without statue, I hope the post-launch dlc is good.
Mysterio
Yeah, I'm not a fan of when they announce DLC before the game is even out...
@Ralizah Not going to wait a year with something like this i even double dipped with Horizon. 😁
@KALofKRYPTON I never like to play the badguy. But that said sometimes i found it hard to do the good thing when they where beating up conduites. (hope i wrote it right)
@Flaming_Kaiser For Second Son, I did good then bad for trophy clean up. Glad I did, as playing bad was so much easier and had better powers.
@KALofKRYPTON Second Sons bad ending was brilliant!
@themcnoisy I really enjoyed the whole thing. A lot more than I thought I would actually.
I'd say I actually enjoyed First Light even more.
Ooh this is good news ! I look forward to playing the DLC expansions with the inevitable GOTY/Complete Edition.
