We’ve been lucky enough to play Detroit: Become Human a handful of times now, and we can confirm that it’s shaping up to be a stunner. And speaking across a couple of GDC panels last month, Quantic Dream has detailed exactly how the title will perform on the standard PlayStation 4, as well as the supercharged PS4 Pro.
To begin, both consoles will support HDR, which is sure to look astounding on compatible screens. Meanwhile, the release will render in 1080p at 30 frames-per-second on the base hardware, while the PS4 Pro version will checkerboard to 2160p – again at 30 frames-per-second. This is the same solution that Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War are using.
Some of the environmental art in this game is extremely impressive, and when you pair that with the outrageously realistic character models, it’s shaping up to be a visual tour-de-force.

I'm glad that they went with details full on with this one because Detroit is not action heavy game so making it 60fps and sacrifice other stuff isn't needed.
I'm still torn on this game. I loved Heavy Rain but Beyond didn't do much for me.
I might wait to see how it's received.
@Splat From what I've played, it's more like Heavy Rain.
@Hapuc Yeah they said that themselves, Detroit is a game that doesn't need the FPS boost.
Sooo excited!
@adf86 Is It I don't know i think they said it that It doesn't need it maybe I've read that wrong.
I'll be playing god of war this month and detroid in may
@Hapuc Yeah, for a movie like game like this it's better to crank up the graphics rather than focusing on 60 fps.
@hapuc My apologies I meant to say it doesn't need the FPS boost, amazing how one word completely changes how your opinion looks
Call me crazy but ive always thought silky smooth 60fps motion makes a WWAAAYYYY bigger & awesome difference than a resolution bump which to me is essentially unnoticeable.
Very excited for this title, a game in this genre comes along very rarely so I always feel keen when one comes around.
I personalky think that Until Dawn surpassed anything from Quantic Dreams so I am interested to see how QD respond to Until Dawn's quality and popularity.
@Gmork___
In games that are fast anyway then yeah definitely. Destiny 2 looks miles better on PC than ps4. However games that are mostly cinematic really don't benefit as much from the frames. Movies are normally shot at 29fps if I'm correct.
@starman292 24fps for movies.
@starman292 Movies are shot at 24fps.Games can still run smoothly at 30fps and that also includes FPS and racing games too - like Destiny, Driveclub, Forza Horizon. The biggest selling game, GTAv runs at 30fps as does pretty much all the 'Game of the Year' winners for the past 10yrs+ too.
Of course 60fps is better and smoother but 30fps never stopped games like Uncharted, Last of Us, Horizon:ZD, Witcher 3, Fallout, Dead Space etc etc etc etc all being superb games and totally playable.
Can't wait for Detroit.
@starman292 30 fps or 60 fps, Destiny 2 still is utterly garbage.
I do wish more Pro enhanced games would offer a 60fps option, even if they’re not deemed ‘action’ enough by the developers. If you’re able to pan the camera fast in a game it looks horrible at 30fps, to me anyway.
I’ve just played What Remains of Edith Finch, and even in such a relaxed game I would have liked it to be 60fps! I really struggle with the ghosting effect you get on 30fps games when panning the camera. I’ve just been spoiled by recently playing the Last of Us and Sly Cooper trilogy.
@PS_Nation Destiny 2 is fine, I quite enjoyed my time with it. The post game stuff is lacklustre but the initial 30-50 hours are great.
On topic I much prefer 60fps, looking back my favourite games this gen are all 60fps bar HZD so it must make a difference.
@PS_Nation
Yes but that doesn't change the fact it plays much better in 60fps lol.
@themcnoisy
Yeah I agree had a great launch but absolutely trash endgame
@Paranoimia @BAMozzy
Ah 24 thanks for that.
But yeah I wasn't saying they can't run smooth, they do run very stable and very smooth. It is just some games feel much better at 60fps. For example a game like Life is strange would not matter if it was 60 or 30. But would you want to play super smash bros at 30? :/
@GravyThief
I think with what remains of Edith Finch it is just poorly optimised in parts. Even on max settings on pc there was parts that weren't optimised well. Loved the game though, fantastic story!
