Insomniac's highly anticipated Spider-Man PS4 exclusive feels like it's a long way off. The title recently received a release date of 7th September, leaving Spidey fans with a lot of time to twiddle their thumbs. Fortunately, publisher Titan Books has teamed up with Marvel and Insomniac to produce a novel that depicts the events leading into the new game's story.
Entitled Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover, it tells the story of Kingpin's rise to power, and is set to feature a number of Peter Parker's enemies. "Leading directly into the beginning of the game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover features some of Spidey’s most famous friends and foes, including the Shocker, Echo, the Blood Spider, J. Jonah Jameson, Mary Jane Watson, and Wilson Fisk – the Kingpin." Written by author David Liss, the book is set to release on 21st August, a good couple of weeks before the main event.
However, that's not the only book planned for Spider-Man's launch. On 11th September, a few days after the game's release, Spider-Man: The Art of the Game will become available, and will feature all-new art work. "Packed with never-before-seen images of Spider-Man, his costume and equipment, the Marvel version of his hometown New York, and the deadly villains he battles, fans will learn about every facet of the game, from the initial designs, blueprints, and the breathtaking final concepts."
Will you be checking out either of these books alongside the game? Crawl into the comments below and let us know.
