The world is waiting (to port beg) for Spyro the Dragon’s rumoured remake, and IGN may have received the biggest hint that an announcement is imminent. The site was sent a purple, scaled egg from a mysterious individual named Falcon McBob. Those of you with sharp memories will recall Activision registering the @SpyroTheDragon Twitter account with the same name.
According to the message alongside the egg, “something's about to hatch”. Could we get a reveal prior to E3 2018? It’s certainly looking likely – especially seeing as an announcement was purportedly planned for March. The title will apparently launch later this year as a timed PS4 exclusive, which is going to leave social media reeling. We can’t wait.

Just a heads up, this might be of some interest to you guys. The return address was Activision's.

Crazy stuff. Activision sure knows how to stir up hype.
Don't get your hopes up people, it could be the Gobbledy Gooker. Let's see how many old wrestling fans remember that
Oh it’s probably coming... for like the 3rd time... this seems really solid though, so unless Activision is trolling us it seems legit.
Now this is the right way to tease a reveal! =)
@adf86 Ah the Gobbledy Gooker, debuted the same day as the Undertaker in the WWF Survivor Series 1990.
I hope this doesn't end up like the supposed teases for Modern Warfare Remasterd 2.
Don't poke the bear.
Please, release it on Android, please!!!
Sorry to disappoint people, but this is just teasing the next Angry Birds.
@JakeIsEarly Superb sleuthing!
Couldn't this also be about Skylanders? That would be a lot less exciting.
Is this supposedly a remake of just the first game? If so that is kind of disappointing after the brilliant Crash N'sane Trilogy, I hope Spyro gets the same level of love because I have yet to play any of them and having a collection like Crash got would be amazing.
It almost seems obvious what it is. I say almost because I'm kinda expecting a Vince Russo style swerve (Yeah, I can make wrestling jokes too!).
Bring on the Dragon!
If it does turn out to be a timed exclusive, I'll probably wait and see if it gets a Switch port.
It would be hilarious if this was a April Fool's joke that got stuck in the post.
Falcon McBob? What a name!
I didn't even like Spyro the first time around, but it's nice to see some old series' getting some love like this.
Now someone bring back Kurushi, Mr. Domino, Overboard, Theme Hospital, and the entire Dizzy series and we'll talk.
Hope they bring back his original PS1 cute look. Fingers crossed 🤞.
@Dpishere The rumours have suggested this will be a similar deal to the N. Sane Trilogy, i.e. remakes of all three of the original PSone games.
@Quintumply Excellent, hope they announce it soon so we all know for sure what it is.
Get hyped!
If this leaves the internet reeling and port begging then whatever.
Its only you who will care. The rest of the world will have caught on after Crash.
@Tasuki Yeah it makes me think that there's a parallel universe where the Gooker was the one that went on the Wrestlemania streak
You know we have a problem when people are hyped the most about Spyro.
And tbh he wasn't that good to begin with imo.
The console war bait would be funny if the Switch hadn't gotten Super Mario Odyssey yet. As is, it's just kinda sad.
... yeahhhh, sorry to be a party-pooper, but games like this have aged REALLY badly... take a look at Yooka Laylee for proof... I loved Spyro as a kid - it was new / fresh / really well done... 20 years on? Nahhhh, I'll stick with the memories... and modern games... and trying to survive those balls on Mars...
Wasn't this announcement imminent last month as well? I'll wait for official confirmation before getting excited.
@OneManDroid
Played it not long ago and personally I still love them. Yooka Laylee wasn't comparable to the Original Spyro games to begin with IMO, it just felt empty to me.
@KingSimba
They should do, I thought crash looked pretty good in the remakes so I have faith in them.
Just announce it dammit.
Played the PS1 Demos back in the day. But I was more of a Crash fan at the time so didn't bother buying these games but might buy this
@OneManDroid This genre hasen't aged much at all, Yooka-Laylee just sucked.
