Death Stranding added two new names to its all-star cast list in last night’s curious gameplay reveal: French actress Léa Seydoux and the Bionic Woman herself Lindsay Wagner. Both actresses will have prominent roles in the PlayStation 4 exclusive, alongside Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen – an insane cast.
Director and auteur Hideo Kojima wrote: “All of the cast who have been revealed to date, including Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, are people who I grew very fond of, and had a strong desire to work with. Having fallen for them, I pulled some strings (strands), and asked them to be in my game. I wasn’t motivated by marketing or sales, but simply driven by my creative inspiration.”
You really should give Kojima’s blog post a read if you’re interested in learning more about the creative process behind Death Stranding; it’s ambiguous, as you’d expect from the veteran, but it’s quite sentimental and honest. Well worth thumbing through.

Sony checking out Koj's bill for this game: F**kinghell!!
Konami: Told ya.
I love her. but the trailer (in gameplay) just killed my hope for now.
I'm interested in this game but I'm still not a big fan when games use 100% likeness of actors, tbh.
@WanderingBullet I think it's where we're going now. Performance capture is becoming more important as players demand better stories and acting.
It's becoming more common to use actual actors now, rather than just voice actors.
@get2sammyb Yeah, I don't mind developers using actors for better acting performance capture and voice acting. My issue is when they use the actors likeness (faces) as well. Just seems kinda lazy from a creative standpoint...
I think they mostly showed him walking around the area because they don't want to give away any story. I think keeping it mysterious is smart.
I've got to imagine the input Kojima is having to tweaking the Decima Engine, which is already amazing, will mean the Horizon sequel is going to be mind-blowingly, stunning.
When Lidnsay Wagner turned around in that trailer last night it was so cool, the 70's came flooding back to me and I could hear the theme song.
Best part of the trailer as I still dont' know whats' going on in the rest and don't expect to see a finished game until PS6. Maybe a dual release w/ PS5 if we're lucky.
UPS the Game
I hope people don't start giving the game crap because of a lack of "guns, explosions etc" cos that's contributing to a huge problem in the industry where using guns and violence is the only way to create compelling gameplay on big budget titles.
Maybe that's what he meant when he said "sticks and rope" I think he was referrering to so many games use "sticks"/guns to hurt people. Now he wants to make a game about "ropes" (backpacks, carrying equipment etc) about using non violent tools.
@Bliquid But don't you think that's usually the creator / director's decision?
I suggest seeing the interview with Geoff and Kojima, cool stuff
