Death Stranding

Admittedly, we’re as bemused by Hideo Kojima’s courier-‘em-up as everyone else, but Death Stranding sure has a creative identity unlike any we’ve seen before. The title still looks early, but it’s clear that the ex-Metal Gear man has a very strong vision for where this intriguing PS4 exclusive is heading, and while we still have many questions about both the narrative and core gameplay loop, we can’t wait to see more.

Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry returns with Nero and a new robotic arm in the lead role. Running on Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, the long-awaited sequel promises blistering character action combat, all running at 60 frames-per-second. With more ‘tude than a teenager at a family get-together, the edgy narrative may grate – but there’s no question that the franchise is bringing back all of the style that fans love.

Dreams

It’s been floating around for a while now, but Dreams never fails to impress. The so-called imagination engine from Media Molecule didn’t quite get the blowout that we were hoping for in Los Angeles, with still no word on a release date or the beta which was promised eons ago, but make no mistake: the Guildford developer is breaking new ground here, and this is destined to be one of the more innovative PS4 titles when it does eventually arrive.

Fallout 76

Fallout 76 may not be the traditional Fallout title that many fans want, but it's still up there among E3 2018's most interesting games. An emphasis on multiplayer is the dividing line here, but if it's handled correctly, Bethesda could be onto a real winner. The game's map is four times the size of Fallout 4's, which immediately sounds quite impressive, and the whole thing will run on an updated engine with the support of dedicated servers. This is a whole new world for Todd Howard and co., so here's hoping this fresh adventure pans out.

Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima may just be the best looking PS4 game at E3 2018 – it’s in the running anyway. A slow, deadly combat style means that this doesn’t have the acrobatic action we’ve come to expect from developer Sucker Punch, but the promise of a deep historical narrative and vast Feudal world to explore has got our juices flowing all the same.
