Definitely going back. I dipped back in with each update but the new stuff is enough to make me think I'm gonna put some serious time into it again, it looks that good.
Fair play to the developers
Bought it at release but got bored with it.
Will dust it off to try this.
I'll be playing something else NEXT.
I'm surely a minority, but the simple fact that you can go 3rd person sells it for me. Could never play 1st person games without suffering from terrible motion sickness.
You guys should do an article about what’s been added to No Man’s Sky, because I can’t find a clear answer as to what the games become. I keep hearing it’s different, but how is it different?
I'm glad it had the vague storyline in it by the time I played through and thought it was a solid game. Not sure I'd go back to it again though.

Yes!
I don't know if I will play it frequently but I do plan on dipping in to it at least once to see what's new. I don't really have it in me to play these kind of huge never ending games at the moment.
If the online is fun I hope to have a few sessions with some of the guys on here though.
Waiting for VR.
Yeah, I thought it was good at launch - possibly because I didn't buy into the hype - and I've enjoyed going back to it Everytime there's been an update
Just to try it since I have the big hdd! But I'm not staying since they don't upgrade the creatures
@fchinaski Thanks! That article was informative.
I still would suggest a new or at least revamped review article critiquing all the new content.
I plan to try the game again; I haven’t touched it since a couple weeks post launch, other than to take it to GameStop and try to trade it in. It was nearly worthless as a trade-in so thankfully I kept it. I’m a little concerned that when I start the game after all these massive updates that I will be completely lost as to what to do. I didn’t make it to the center of the Universe on my initial play time with it and I’m pretty sure I’m just randomly sitting on a frozen planet at my last save. I want to know if I should just restart a new game, or try to pick up where I left off.
Yep didn't buy it at launch but will be buying the used copy now unless a new version is coming with some of the passed updates merged in I'd buy it new
I wasn't really that interested in the game initially, and the launch issues has completely put me off reconsidering this game.
I have to, they literally added the one thing I always wanted.
Nah, i only get burned once
I'll have a look. Haven't played it in a while, but I did enjoy what I played.
If only there was a game that combined the easy-going and colorful world of NMS with the awesome hardcore stuff from Elite dangerous with great visuals. Eventually No man's sky is too little and Elite a bit too much for me.
I'll be definitely re-installing the game to check out this NEXT update. I'm looking forward to it.
There's another free update for another game that I'm looking forward to more, though.
Got it for Christmas and barely played it. I'll check it out again though.
My son and I are planning on running around together!! Can't wait!! 3rd person is a HUGE plus for me as well!!
@naruball Yep. Same here. VR is a must for this game.
I still think partial refunds should have been issued for the lies and controversies this game had permeated throughout it's marketing campaign. They literally lied. There was even a whole segment on BBC News basically advertising the game before launch that had lies in it.
Already sold my copy of nms special edition, but I'm tempted to buy it again if the game is discounted on psn, the psn price is still $60 which is insane.
I've had No Man's Sky for a while now, but haven't got round to trying/playing it. But I must say, the devs really are making this game into something special, space exploration wise etc... They literally are putting their heart into this game, updates wise, as I regularly read this site, I don't always comment, but it is my go-to place for gaming news and updates. Anyway, I'm certainly going to give this game a go, especially now it's having the multiplayer feature to it. I love space games ie Star Trek Online, Bridge Crew etc... so I will look forward to playing this online, for sure.
Think I will dip back in to see if it can draw me in more this time. Played it at launch and enjoyed it for about 10 hours but it became really repetitive after that
Since day one I'm holding my purchase until it's in good shape, which seems to be the case now... so now I'm waiting for the NEXT sale ; )
I've still never played it. Might be this year's summer holiday game with the kids.
Played it at launch for a week or two, haven't touched it since. Gonna dig it out next week and give it another go
I have not played NMS for ages, although I used to play it every evening for a long time after release! And I will defenitely go back and start a new save - it looks incredible!
Bought both this and Elite in sales hoping for VR. Played Elite a bit but just a couple of hours in NMS. But will give this update a go. Both would be spectacular inVR, but can’t complain for £10 each.
I've never played it before but 3rd person plus the update looks like it might be fun for a few hours. Would love to see an updated review of the new content before making my mind up
I don't own it yet but this is making me consider it lol.
@wiiware it's only 20 bucks now physically.
@ToniK Yes; I have both games, and both are off-putting in different ways. I didn't much like that NMS seems to revolve around increasing one''s inventories so much.
got rid of ages ago
I loved the solo game very relaxing game play and colors. I will be going back to check out NEXT at launch. I played for a while every day with each new update.
I've enjoyed the game, it's a rather relaxing and immersive experience. I still wish it had a stronger narrative though.
The game I got is the game I expected to get, and I watched the same trailers and videos as everybody else.
'Sure' I get people being angry over the technical issues, things like that are easy to sympathize with. As far as critiquing the gameplay though, some of the reactions I've seen and read in the gaming world makes me feel like a visitor to some strange zoo.
Glad I held on to my copy. Never had a bad impression of the original release. I saw it more as a interesting experiment rather than a full fledged game.
@Th3solution That is pretty much where I stand with the game, apart from being on a icy planet. It has been so long since I've played it I don't remember where i was.
As to whether I'm jumping back in, I'm undecided and will wait to hear some feedback on NEXT.
@JohnnyShoulder Yeah, Ikr. That’s why I’d like a new or updated review that might give some guidance on how to get back into the game for those of us who have been away from it so long.
I feel like I had enough time invested in it, I had learned several alien language words, had upgraded my ship and tools a decent amount, and had discovered a lot of planets, animals, and plants that I hate to throw all that away and start over. Yet, the game now seems as if it’s not even the same one we played at launch and so I’m not sure all that time and progress even carries over really, or how it translates into this new world.
I’d only play this if it was on ps plus but it’s starting to look pretty decent now.
@Th3solution Yeah IIRC I got quite far into the game so would be good to know if it is worth starting a new game or not. One of the updates added quite a lot of story content so am not sure if that effects our current progress.
@JohnnyShoulder Hopefully we’ll know in a few days. If it’s recommended to start over because of too many changes and modifications then I really don’t think I will try the game again. I don’t think I can stomach another 3-4 hour rummage around a random planet mining elements to fix my ship and start interplanetary travel.
Definitely going back. My favourite part about NMS was always the first few hours when it was about pure survival. Too bad it's too quick and too easy going from crashed pilot with no skills to having freighters and bases everywhere.

@Th3solution I might still jump in if you have to start again as it has been so long since I've played it. Could be a good chill game to play in this hot weather. I wonder if any of thst had been changed?
@Jaz007 I know someone else sent you that other link, but if you do a little digging on the NMS official site, they have release notes for all of the major patches: Foundation, Pathfinder, Atlas Rises, and NEXT. Be warned that it's a lot of reading. Each of those four major updates was hefty and they've added and changed A LOT since launch.
@fchinaski same here.
