Oh BioWare you big bloody teasers, you. In the studio's latest blog post, GM Casey Hudson details the developer's E3 trip and discusses ANTHEM, but the part that really caught our eye was mention of Mass Effect and Dragon Age.
"We hear loud and clear the interest in BioWare doing more Dragon Age and Mass Effect," Hudson writes. "Rest assured that we have some teams hidden away working on some secret stuff that I think you’ll really like – we’re just not ready to talk about any of it for a little while..."
Secret stuff, eh? While Hudson could be talking about absolutely anything, it's certainly enough to grab our attention. The fact that the developer can't go into detail about it yet suggests that any announcements or reveals will be saved for after ANTHEM's launch in February next year. But what could BioWare be working on behind the scenes?
Well, we already know that the next Dragon Age was at least in early stages of production before ANTHEM became the studio's core focus. As for Mass Effect, we know that we keep dragging this back up, but... Remastered Trilogy? Come on BioWare, what are you waiting for?
What would you like to see from BioWare once ANTHEM is out? Speak of your wildest dreams in the comments section below.

if they do a remastered MassEffect Trilogy they would have to make the first games shooting more like the others because that game really has NOT aged well
@FullbringIchigo The original Mass Effect already played like absolute dogsh*t when it first came to PS3, so god knows what it's like now. Mass Effect 2's shooting hasn't aged well either, I replayed it not too long ago and it's incredibly stiff.
Mass Effect 3 isn't toooo bad — it's miles better than its predecessors, even if it's still not amazing.
Well if it anything like they teased Andromeda then we should expect 3 years of teasers before anything substantial is shown.
@ShogunRok yeah they could all use tweeking a bit but the first games is the worse of the bunch
Next-gen Mass Effect, perhaps? It would be a good move to just go that route in a few years. Produce the best story-driven game they can, leverage the abilities of and launch on the new systems and hopefully scrub the bad memories of Andromeda out of fan's minds.
regarding dragon age,i can't be that hopefull.
if for some reason anthem does well,EA will want to force bioware on milking that game dry resulting in a slower and smaller production team on a possible dragon age 4.
they already halted some form of pre production on dragon age in favour of anthem so who knows how long it could take.
it's not that bioware has lot's of freedom with EA breathing down their necks.
If BioWare does do something with the ME trilogy, I hope they do proper remakes instead of simple ports. Gameplay in ME1 has not aged well. I love those games, but they would need updating. One thing Andromeda does have over the trilogy is a fun approach to combat.
@FullbringIchigo Yeah! People crap all over Andromeda but forget how janky the original games were. Yeah yeah, I know The Witcher 3 does production values better, but I at least loved Andromeda for having the best shooting and best graphics of the series (disregarding the admittedly lackluster story and companions), IMHO!
Is it Mass Dragons? Age Effect? Nope, it's Anthem 2 dlc. Weeeee.
Dammit Hudson, why tease people like that?! If it's anything big, I wouldn't expect to hear about it until long after Anthem is released.
Ha "This is what mass effect Andromeda should have looked like" background documentary
Looks like that BioWare is working on a new Dragon Age too, but I will not be surprised if it’s a multiplayer game. About Mass Effect, I will bet that’s the remastered trilogy, not sure if they will make a sequel of Andromeda.
I'll always cherish the memory of ME trilogy as one of the best things to ever happen to gaming, but I've sadly lost interest in Bioware. Andromeda had its moments but it was average at best and Dragon Age is not for me. Tried to enjoy Inquisiton but quit after some hours in. Oh well.
The first Mass Effect with the combat from Andromeda. That would be super.
For the love of God remaster the Mass Effect Trilogy. I can't believe we live in a world where freaking Dead Island got remastered and Mass Effect didn't.
I've never played mass effect and would love a remaster to give them a try. Loved Babylon 5 and deep space 9 when I was a kid (ok, maybe teenager) and would love to give them a try.
I just need Anthem to sell well, so i can get my dragon age 4
Mass Effect Royale and Dragon Age: Acquisition & Terminate
Anthem excites me about as much as a wet fart. Really the only thing EA can do to excite me is to make that Mass Effect Trilogy Remaster that EVERYONE keeps asking for, or a Mass Effect/sci-fi game that doesn't suck, and isn't multiplayer focused.
@Splat Every single important franchise from last gen has gotten a remaster except for Mass Effect. That fact, really really makes me salty. Freaking Burnout Paradise got a remaster before Mass Effect lol.
Please just remaster the ME trilogy - I need Garrus calibrating in HD.
Dragon age origins. Dragon age 2.and dragon age origins.are amazing.especially when you play as a mage.l💗ve the magic.and that franchises.more dragon age please.one of my favorites franchises.i welcome a new mass effect also.word up son
@keihtg yeah Andromeda wasn't a bad game, it had few issues but it was enjoyable
speaking of Andromeda what if they are actually working on the promised DLC or a fix for the game
He is working on another dragon age .they said that already.its in development.word up son
@FullbringIchigo I’m pretty sure they said they were “done” with Andromeda, DLC included. However, there’s a tie-in/sequel(?) coming in the form of a book this October (called Mass Effect: Annihilation).
That book was originally set for a summer release, so...yeah, maybe it got pushed back and they actually are working on new DLC for Andromeda! I doubt it, tho, since that doesn't make much sense from a business perspective
Mass Effect and Dragon Age armour as preoreder bonus for Anthem 😉
@General_Spiller As much as we all want the Mass Effect Trilogy remaster, I think that this is honestly what we'll get.
Nah, we're done here Bioware. Give those franchises some much needed love, let someone else have them.
Remastered Mass effect OMG! OMG! LOVE THIS trilogy! I'll pre order that and i dont pre order games just hardware lol
I really just marinade in this trilogy linear is the key EA just saying! Great read thank you!
Its two new phone games :v
I don't have my hopes very high for Bioware regarding these two franchises, but I guess we'll see what happens.
Anthem is not even released.
That secret only going to happen on 2023 and beyond..
I just want this to be the Mass Effect trilogy on PS4. After Andromeda I'm not particularly fussed about a new game in the series. Couldn't give a fig about Dragon Age.
In a wonderful hypothetical dream world future, I'd like the Mass Effect remaster to normalise shooting mechanics between the three games to make all three play like Mass Effect 3. Seems incredibly unlikely though. It'll probably just be a standard port.
Burnout Paradise really wasn't a remaster it was just the pc code that's it and it still had bugs in it. I can't see the Trilogy getting any special treatment of it were to get a remaster because it wouldn't be one. The pc versions ain't that great of 1 and it would be that code they'd use for it 2 and 3 run ok just a shame they never had controller support for the pc versions which always baffled me especially since it came to 360 first and yet didn't have it's controller support for Windows embedded
This constant reminding is getting comical. Every two to three months someone from Bioware says they haven't forgotten Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Its like: Hey, we now work on an action game, because EA wanted a Destiny clone, when Destiny was popular, but please remember that we once were this world class RPG studio, which we will be again. Please keep that in mind when you judge Anthem. Pleeeaaassseee!
EDIT: The cynical, but realistic, outlook for Bioware: If Anthem is a big success they will be forced to crank out DLC and sequels (forever), if Anthem fails EA will just shutdown the studio and slap the Bioware/Mass Effect/Dragon Age logo on their mobile games, just like they do with Command & Conquer or Ultima.
well I love both games so would be happy with remasters & new work
Like others I would gladly take a remastered collection of the Mass Effect trilogy, those are games that should be first in line for that treatment.
Only Mass Effect I’ve ever played is Andromeda and I absolutely loved it! Dragon Age: Origins and Inquisition are 2 of my favorite games. Dragon Age 2 should be put into a “dream” sequence. Can’t wait for another Dragon Age! Hopefully they keep Cassandra the way she is in Inquisition. She’s my gaming bae.
I'm hoping for a true Mass Effect Trilogy release with ALL DLC included...recently bought most of the ME3 DLC because it wasn't included >_>.
