Shenmue III will release on 27th August, 2019, a new trailer from the Gamescom 2018 opening ceremony has confirmed. As part of a Deep Silver segment, Yu Suzuki showcased a new trailer from the game, which is by far the best we’ve seen thus far. While it’s clear that there’s still a lot of work to do, we get a glimpse of Ryo Hazuki coming face-to-face with Lan Di, which has this author hyped beyond belief.
The sequel picks up immediately after the events of Shenmue II, so if you weren’t planning on it, there’s never been a better time to play through Shenmue I & II on the PlayStation 4, which is out today. You can read our first impressions of the long-awaited ports through here.

I mean, it'll get delayed, but that's by far the best trailer they've done so far!
Can't wait for this. Hopefully doesn't get delayed but if does no biggy if it makes the game better.
@JoeBlogs You're right — I've added that in!
Its NOT getting another delay. Previously they only announced a year by year release date. Now they've commited to year,month,day. They are confident it will be out then. That's a whole year of development still,its going to be out then no doubt for me.
Plenty of time for me to catch up on the first two then
Shenmue hype
Looks great. Going to pick up Shenmue 1+2 later today, so I’m looking forward to finally getting into the series.
the animations are looking a lot better although the character models faces still look a bit stiff
still i'm looking forward to it
I need to find time for Shenmue. I've been getting hype because of the recent news on the ports.
Looks interesting. The character models still feel out of place with the environment though. And we’ll see about that release date. This is competing wkth FFXV remember.
I mean a year is a long time to elevate a game. Remember the God of War article you guys just did. 6 months before release that was looking shoddy.
Wasnt expecting a date but no complaints.
@Kidfried - You nailed it. Show us Ryo walking around a populated town - checking out a few shops, not buying a hot dog, chatting with the locals - so we can see the atmosphere. The original was so good at putting you right into Tokyo, and I think the biggest challenge for the team now is to recreate that sensation, without the massive budget they had for the first game. I think the formula still can work, if it keeps the focus on living all the intimate details of Ryo's life. I think depth, rather than breadth, is what they should be shooting for. It's gonna be really interesting seeing how a Shenmue game plays in 2018....er, 2019. I'm keeping my hopes in check. But I'm still thrilled they're doing this!
