As if there was any denying the huge success of Monster Hunter: World at this point, Capcom has confirmed that the game has now sold over 10 million copies. The recent release of the title's PC version has bolstered that figure by at least a million units -- the game sat at around 8 million copies in July -- but it's still a very impressive number.
World launched on PlayStation 4 back near the beginning of the year, on the 26th January. Since then, it's gone on to break all sorts of records for Capcom, becoming the best selling game that the company has ever published.

A monstrous achievement!
Man, I can't believe Monster Hunter hit ten million with all those people boycotting it because it wasn't on Switch. It's almost as if they counted for nothing.
massive achievement and im so pleased for the franchise. lets hope this pushes Capcom for MHW2 . Ive only played 30 hours so far and its bloody brilliant fun even though the whole menu system still kind of stresses me out
What a result!
But... the game was supposed to fail though.
I love MHW , took a break from playing it tho to focus on other games since technically I beat it . Hope W2 brings back water battles.
Well deserved! My GOTY so far.
I'd love to see the breakdown of sales by platform. Anyone have a link?
I expected this game to do moderately well, but it's nice to see the game doing much better than that.
@Turismo4GT We know MH:W had sold around 8.3 million copies across PS4 and Xbox One before the PC version launched earlier this month.
On consoles, it's safe to assume the vast majority of copies were sold on PS4.
Still playin' it, still lovin' it. For me it's an awesome game to play casually: jump in, do some grinding, ocassionally fight a new "boss" creature. It's so unique to me as well, since I never played the previous games.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Haven't played the demo, but the design is quite outdated compared to World. I've seen several people say that they can't go back to the older games. With all the loading in between areas, vast empty fields and monsters locked to a single area, etc.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Oh, I agree. It's not easy to jump into. I had trouble getting back into World after a few months. Complicated and confusing menus, hunts that last a little too long, no pause button and a time limit. I think there's room for improvement. At least, for me personally. I also realise that there's a big group of people who like the game as it is.
I'm still very confused. The peeps from Team Nintendo kept screaming and shouting that World NEEDED to be on the Switch to be successful, what the hell's going on here???
@NintendoFan4Lyf I'd say give World a try. Trust me I was like you and tried older MH games and hated them for how sluggish they felt and didn't enjoy any of them. Heck I didn't even buy MHW, my friend got it for me.
Needless to say I tried it and my god, I LOVE it- I've put over 200 hours into the game and I believe it's probably the game of the year. It's alot more responsive and the multiplayer aspect is alot more noticeable compared to the rest.
Trust me, you won't regret trying out World.
@johncalmc The people boycotting because they donβt have a system to play it on? πππ
Amazing game and franchise in general, well deserved sales
I got burnt out on the end game pretty quickly. But it's good fun and impressive up to that point. Recommended if you have some friends online to play it with.
I tried playing the demo solo and didn't care for it, not my kind of genre.
Happy everyone else seems to be loving it though...
