Sony held a press conference as part of ChinaJoy 2018 in Shanghai earlier today, where it showed an indie game montage featuring dozens of games. Some of these are already available in Europe and North America, and are merely being published in China; others are being developed by local companies, and will hopefully get worldwide releases on the PlayStation 4.
The full list of games, as kindly curated by Gematsu, is as follows:
- Fringe Wars (ThinkingStars)
- ANNO: Mutationem (ThinkingStars)
- Incredible Mandy (Tianjin Dotoyou Technology)
- Genesis (Shanghai Moba Network Technology)
- My Time at Portia (Pathea Games)
- Juicy Realm (X.D. Network)
- Seasons After Fall (Oasis Games)
- Unruly Heroes (Magic Design Studios)
- Your Toy (Viva Games)
- I Am the Hero (Crazyant Games)

- Tales of the Neon Sea (Palm Pioneer)
- Bad North (Oasis Games)
- KAKU: Ancient Seal (Shenzhen Bingo Culture Technology)
- ARK Park (Snail Games)
- Legion Commander (Changyou.com)
- 全民舞姬-偶像计划 (Newcome Entertainment)

- A.D. 2047 (Chengdu Jufengdidai Technology)
- Warbot: Gravity Strike (Shanghai Lusion Computer Software)
- Unearthing Mars 2: The Ancient War (Winking Entertainment)
You can watch the trailer through here. It’s nice to see Sony put a big emphasis on indie games again, and we’d like to see these kind of montages return during its Western press conferences as well. Do any of these titles take your fancy at all? Pray for a YouTube embed in the comments section below.

Nice! 全民舞姬-偶像计划 sounds just great.
Juicy Realm for me. Just based on the name.
ANNO, Unruly Hearoes, Unheard and Incredible Mandy caught my interest.
Also, Unearthing Mars is getting a sequel? Was the game really that succesful? Is it because the Ultimate VR bundle Winking released earlier this year? Because Unearthing Mars feels more like a paid tech demo with a convoluted story and very short bursts of fun than anything.
@kyleforrester87 Just translated it. It's called "National Dance Ji-Idol Project". I'm guessing it will be some kind of Idolmaster-style game?
Hopefully some for vita aswell
@SoulsBourne128 It's far less catchy in English.
Sony doesn't care about indie games.
Only real concern here is that Sony is replacing all their advantages with Japanese studios with new Chinese studios. Could just be timing but I haven't seen Sony get too involved with Japanese game devs as of late, and this heavy investment in Chinese studios makes me think they're abandoning Japanese relationships with Chinese ones. Like I said, could just be timing (lack of big Japanese releases on PS4, previously PS exclusive 3rd party Japanese games going to PC, and big Switch exclusive Japanese releases all happening around the same time), but I am a little concerned. As much as I want these games to be good, I have yet to play or even hear of a Chinese-made game to be anything above mediocre.
