Hitman 2 is only a few short weeks away from release, and in usual fashion, its Trophy list has just popped up on Exophase early. And the headline here is that the base game ships with a mind-boggling 118 trophies.
It has a core list of tasks such as completing tutorials and carrying out certain kills, but every level has its own DLC tab to separate the list out. This is exactly the same way the original Hitman handled its Trophy list. What makes the list so large though is the fact that all the Trophies from that original affair can be found in this sequel, due to the fact that you can play every one of those missions via Hitman 2. The lack of a Platinum Trophy once again though is a little heartbreaking.
It's great that the sequel is bringing over all previous content and improving it, but how do you feel about unlocking those Trophies all over again? Work your way to Mastery level 20 in the comments below.

I have to do this all over again? 🙈
@get2sammyb well, no actually, you don't.
Did I just set you free? Because it feels like that's what happened.
I don't get the appeal of platinum trophies, or trophies in general. Not sure what benchmark the trophies set, but that's just my opinion. If the game is entertaining and engaging enough, you really don't need trophies. The end result, IMO, is people enjoy the game, and have a ball, not to kill themselves over doing things again and again.... for a trophy, that, for now, does not count towards anything, and in future, only counts a few virtual currency (store cash or something? Sony made that announcement not long ago, unless I read it/ heard it wrong) to swap and what not? I'm not getting why its disappointing, really. I've loved Hitman and other games so much and never once cared about getting a platinum... Or may be I am not a gamer? I'm sure some would suggest that, but that's none of my business. ^^
@Tsurii It’s just a bit of fun. No one said you can’t enjoy the game without a Platinum.
so there is a stack for the original hitman aswell?
it's a shame there will be no platinum again though.
@Tsurii Bit of an overreaction, don't you think?
I dunno, 118 trophies, I'd expect the extra gong too. Crazy number to have without a platinum.
@Tsurii If SOMETHING adds enjoyment to a groups of players, surely it has value to those players.
Trophies are entertainment as well. Dig deep enough and you can invalidate the entire video game/movie industry with that mindset.
GAMES OR MOVIES DON'T MAKE MY MUSCLES BIGGER OR MY BELLY MORE FULL SO THEY ARE POINTLESS AND HAVE NO VALUE
@NathanUC I eat videogames and bench press my movie collection so suck on that. Just another reason I will never go all digital.
@tsurii Try telling me that Platinums don't matter when I've acquired 22 of the bloody things over the last two years nearly. That's one for every month btw
@kyleforrester87 at least with digital, I can bench press ALL my games forever. Infinity gainz
@NathanUC yeah until Sony turn off the servers.
@Kidfried At the risk of triggering you, but I would say it any way, may be you're looking for love in the wrong places, mate.......
@Aoune007 I think he was probably joking. 😅
Wait. There is a dislike button now?
Looking though the list. And DLC aready...
Agent 47 assassinated his platinum trophy again. As someone who has 95 as of today thats a little disappointing lol
@Rob_230
Yes...
<_<
>_>
@get2sammyb I forgot to mention the bit where I was being sarcastic. My bad. I mean no offence.
@RedHorzions It's not DLC. It's a list for each individual level.
Where do I have to go to change my profile picture here?
@LiamCroft
Hmmmm ok then my bad
A platinum now would muddle an expansion's trophies later, and suggest a finality to the killing. An agent's work is never done.
@NathanUC You can't really compare video games and movies with... trophies. It simply doesn't work.
@naruball trophies are just part of a game. Im saying that calling video game trophies pointless is a slippery slope. Video games are for enjoyment and many people find enjoyment in trophies. same with multiplayer, crafting, leveling up, grinding, leaderboards, etc.
Just because I don't like leaderboards doesn't mean I think they are pointless and have no value.
I'm with @NathanUC on this one. Personally I'm not a massive Trophy hunter, if a game makes me do something I don't enjoy then I just don't bother. But if I'm loving a game (for example, I loved Hitman 2016) then I'm happy to do some of the things the game requires in order to get the Trophies.
Heck, in Hitman 2016 it actually enhanced my enjoyment of the game, because some of the Trophies required you to discover things you might not know about otherwise.
@NathanUC I understand what you're saying. Still, you can't compare the two. Comparing Trophies with NPCs telling you "good job!" ? Sure. But not video games.
On a unrelated note when did the dislike button get added?
@SKC_Diamond yeah, didn't notice the change, it seems it was added recently.
So wait, is all the content from hitman 1 included in hitman 2, or do u have to already own it?
I would have got the platinum in the original Hitman if there was one because I loved it, but because there wasn't I didn't bother doing some of the more irritating trophies and eventually didn't go out of my way to get any in later levels. Same here, I guess. Sad but not a dealbreaker.
@Tsurii That is just stupid. The Platinum is a MOTIVATION thing not to just rush through a game but to play it will all its challenges. THAT is the reason for trophies. To tell you what you can do in the game and not just rushing through it. And a Platinum is the final motivation to do so.
