Much like Dead or Alive 5, Dead or Alive 6 will be getting its own free-to-play version after the full game has released. The confirmation comes from director Yohei Shimbori, who told Siliconera that it's currently being planned.
"We do have plans to make a free-to-play version, but we haven’t announced when it will be available. We can promise it will be out post-launch of the full game," Shimbori said.
It also sounds like you can expect the free-to-play experience to be familiar, if you ever sampled Dead or Alive 5's Core Fighters version: "We can’t talk about it yet since we don’t have concrete details about what will be included yet. But, it will be similar to what we had with Dead or Alive 5: Core Fighters.”
Dead or Alive 6 is still set to release on the 1st March, so it probably won't be long until we hear more about this free-to-play alternative. Are you a fan of this model? Keep up those wall combos in the comments section below.

@ShogunRok Hows your Dead or Alive Skills
Free boooobies!
@Areus Very rusty, but hopefully I get back into the groove once DoA6 launches.
Dead or Alive is the only fighting game that I'm evenly matched with my relatives.
But they can't match me in every other fighting game.
What differences were there between the free-to-play DoA5 and the regular DoA5?
@viciousarcanum You only got a base few characters and had to buy the rest. Same with game modes. So the idea is that you buy the bits that you want rather than the full game.
Marie Rose for free you say?
I had the free version of DOA5. It was during the period of my life where money was tight, so I appreciated it. Gonna get a full retail copy of 6 this time around.
YAY! I'll buy a character or two if it's worth it.
I may wait for the f2p version and buy only Mila
So long as buying all the pieces of the game separately isn't significantly cheaper than buying it in full at launch I'm fine with it.
I wonder how many people who would've bought the game at launch will just hold out for the free version instead...
@Splat I want Honoka. I am a big fan of her
