Rumours of a new Batman: Arkham title being in development have been doing the rounds for years at this point, and we guess that it's time for another one. This latest "leak" comes from a supposed game tester over at Warner Bros., and that's more than enough to make you doubt it from the start. Of course, numerous websites are already reporting on this like it's somehow credible, when it sounds like nothing but nonsense to us.
It's got all the hallmarks of a phoney rumour. The project, supposedly named Batman: Arkham Crisis, "aims to be Game of the Year" in 2019. So yes, it's apparently launching this year. Developer Rocksteady has only been working on it for two years, despite the fact that it's open world, with a map that's specifically 1.5 times bigger than the one in Grand Theft Auto V. Uh huh.
It'll have co-op, you'll fly around in the Batwing, it'll have 12 chapters each an hour long, and every side quest will specifically be three hours in length. This game tester's really been doing their homework.
Look, Rocksteady is working on something, we know that much, and it has been for a while. First it was more Batman, then it was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, then it was Superman, and now we're back to Batman again. That this rumour has even managed to get to a point where we're having to write this article is baffling -- it's basically fan fiction.

Sounds ludicrous. It has way too many details, way too many. It’s too soon for another Arkham game if it’s not another VR game anyway. The series was amazing, but has run its course for the moment.
Call me crazy, maybe i'm projecting...
but i get the sense that the author doesn't have alot of faith in this rumor
@DASchenk And neither should you
@RogerRoger Everyone knows the best way to do it is add "video game industry insider" to your Twitter bio and then tweet vaguely about how you're "hearing exciting things from [company name]".
And don't forget "take this with a grain of salt, but..."
Why do I feel Robert here is secretly the Joker
Yeah, smells like guano
Doesn't even sound remotely credible. Arkham Crisis? 🤢
I've pre-ordered the Blag Bats Edition.
If they were going for the quick cash grab, it wouldn't take them very long at all to put together a game like described above. They could use the same engine and assets for everything except voices and slap together something for co op pretty easily.
All of that being said.....I really don't see Rocksteady being that stupid to throw away the good reputation they've built up. Might as well call this game Arkham 76 if it is somehow real.
I still want that Rocksteady TMNT game. That would have been great. Arkham style open world game in the art style of their appearance in Injustice 2? Yes please.
I’m burnt out on Batman games. It’s all about Spider-Cop now, Insomniac is one of my old favorites that never switched up.
Hasn't been a quality TMNT since Turtles in Time Snes. Day one purchase if RS is making it
Whatever happened to WB montreal? They made batman arkham origins and they might have nailed it a second time around. Looks like they havn't made a game since 2014 according to their website.
Side quests that are 2 hours longer than the main chapters...ain't nothing wrong with that.
I think the Court of Owls game might be true but don't think it'll be Rocksteady. Would love a Gotham By Gaslight game though.
Crisis sounds about right considering he was a bat, then a turtle, then a flying man and now a bat again.
Oh sweet I can't wait to spend another 40 hours in the batmobile blowing up robot cars
@RogerRoger You said "owls" and "bat-game" in the same sentence! Are we getting a Batman/Harry Potter crossover game??? Will Lucius Fox say "you're a batman Harry"?
Wait... are you a video game industry insider?
Breaking news - Rockstart working on Bebop and Rocksteady solo game.
They're probably just working on the Arkham engine using a Batman game prototype to test it.
My money is on a Arkham styled Green Arrow, Question, or Wonder Woman videogame if the cards are right.
@RogerRoger Good, because that would be madness.
