Tekken 7 is something of a fighting game rarity. The title launched back in 2017 and was immediately popular, but its biggest achievement is how it's actually managed to maintain a lot of its momentum. With a competitive scene that's gone from strength to strength and sales breaking 3 million copies last year, Tekken 7 has been an undeniable hit for Bandai Namco.
The game's second season pass wraps up later this week with the release of its last two additional characters: Julia and Negan. They're due out on the 28th February alongside a brand new update, but will the end of Season 2 signal the end of support for Tekken 7? It certainly doesn't sound like that'll be the case.
Speaking to the one and only Kenny Omega for ESPN Esports, Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada says that the team would like to do a Season 3 "if possible".
"We would like to continue," Harada states. "Excitement around the game continues to build [...] it's not like we don't have a plan. We would like to consider a variety of possibilities." Nothing's set in stone, then, but it does seem as though Tekken 7 is here to stay.

still no one x patch but third season pass...really embarrassing
I guess I wouldn’t mind a season 3. I’m done with guest characters though.
@shonenjump86 Same. I love T7 and definitely not against it getting more support, but there's enough guest characters here.
I want Kunimitsu back, dangit.
Meh, wasn't a fan of Tekken 7. The lack of team battle and the super moves that have no place in Tekken ruined it for me. The story mode was also a complete waste of time.
I'll keep playing Tekken Tag 2 for my Tekken needs.
I would LOVE to see my main Bruce Irvin put into Tekken 7
@DerMeister yeah, Zafina would be cool to have back as well.
Just got plat from a rental copy, unusual change of pace from most fighting games in that respect! Would have liked to have seen Gon, Mokujin, Alex & Roger and some of the more obscure ones, as opposed to Kuma and Panda being seperate entities. Fun game nonetheless though.
I stopped caring about this game ever since they announced that classic characters will be available for purchase as DLC, you guys are dumb for supporting Bamco.
Long wait for the complete package. 😁 😜
I tried to play online a couple of weeks ago and I didn't see any signs of this so-called momentum the game supposedly mantained. Online is a wasteland, particularly if you're used to Street Fighter V.
Too bad, because I really like the game.
I remember playing tekken 1 in arcades back in the day and enjoying it but never knowing what i was doing, i was always a hardcore sf guy. Never had a ps1 and came into ps2 late. Ive only JUST gotten into tekken 7 a few months ago and put effort into learning how it works and am really enjoying it! Wish i would have 20 years ago lol.
I hope and expect them to Continue on to S3. As ive found a handful of characters i like what i want most is a lot more customization options as lame as some might think that is lol
