There's a compelling gameplay loop. I've put about 15 or so hours into it.
No I didn't get it.
Absolutely loving it.
#hatersgonnahate
Around 15 hours in. I have big trouble liking Deacon, he represents almost everything I dislike in a protagonist. But other than that I enjoy it. Won’t win any awards though. It’s kind of missing something special.
But the graphics are amazing as usually expected from a first party game.
It’s OK so far. While not the sort of game I’ll probably replay, it’s not terrible.
I think I have just about 20 hours put into it, and I think it's a pretty good game. Solid.
The zombies are definitely the low part of the game. I don't really enjoy dealing with them, but they're not a problem. It's just unintuitive to deal with large groups considering the gunplay sucks major butt.
Melee is great though. It's satisfying to use.
I think it takes a bit too long to build trust though. Maybe it's just where I'm at, so hopefully I'll get new ways to do that faster.
It's a good game. A bit disappointing, but still good.
I intially liked Days Gone. After 10 hours of gameplay, I'm beginning to love it. Bend Studios is patching things up quickly and the free updates/dlc ahead strengthens my impressions
@NintendoFan4Lyf I feel for you bud! I managed an hour before I had to go away cook tea, do the washing and ironing. RL responsibilites suck, but the family DLC makes it all worth it =0p
Enjoying it so far put 12 hours in on Sunday lol haven't encountered any crashes or game breaking bugs yet just a couple glitches here and there but deffo in my top 5 ps4 games
Got sucked back into Assassin Creed Odyssey and Shadow of the Tomb Raider with the last updates. Also, Sekiro killed my schedule for a while there and my cousins always want to jump on The Division 2
It is on my list. But there just been tons of stuff last 4 months.
I wonder who voted "it's rubbish" I can kinda guess.
patiently waiting for rage 2
should have had an option for "i might buy it". player feedback seems to be more positive than reviews, but at the same time, it seems like a reaallllly long compaign, and personally i find most open world games more often than not struggle to keep a narrative flow that compels you to keep going after so many hours.
I agree with tatsumi. I'm enjoying the game a lot, but its lacking something that I just cant put my finger on. Graphically Bend did a great job and I hope they continue with a sequel as there is plenty of promise in this IP. You can see the influence that other games like The Last of Us, Uncharted and even GTA and others has had on this game with all of their game mechanics mixed up in it.
The only bug I've hit so far is all the sound except speech cut out. I had to come out of the game and reload (which is very slow).
@NintendoFan4Lyf tell me about it. I just finished Leon's scenario in RE2 and it took 2 weeks to do. I think it's only 6 or 7 hours long lol
@RBMango and the camps seem so believable and real to me. The immersion is top shelf. Addicting loop
Yes it's excellent of course.
Edit
People saying gameplay is generic but the way you depend on your bike is special. I don't know if there's another game like it.
I like Deacon personality, I don't know what people expect honestly. It's more subtle than most people think I believe.
It's a solid 7. I would say an 8 but tech issues hold it back.
I'm a couple of hours in and am enjoying it overall.
Although my biggest gripe so far is probably the AI (as it is in many games). Enemies are dull, predictable, unrealistic, tedious and a chore. Why does every "freaker" take exactly the same number of hits with a bat before they eventually drop down? It just feels tiresome and the human enemies feel like they were whistled in from Mafia 3.
Throwing a rock to distract a random goon feels like a gameplay mechanic that we should be past by now. Yet Days Gone feels like they've just discovered it.
I'll get it in the near future.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but there's no real point of me buying it now when it's going to sit on the shelf, waiting for me to finish what I'm playing now. Might as well wait until it's on sale and I'm ready for it.
I have it, but other responsibilities have kept me from getting started with the game. The more I hear, the more I’m looking forward to diving in. I’ve got some free time coming up this weekend.
I think with it being a first party/exclusive title, there was a lot expected, especially after the likes of God of War, Spider-Man, TLoU, Bloodborne etc. However, as someone who actually never bought into the hype around Days Gone I've found myself pleasantly surprised.
It's not perfect and it's certainly buggy (the first 2 days had me restarting the game over and over because all audio besides Deacon's voice track kept cutting out), but there's something compelling about it too. I also kinda like Deacon. He seems like quite a shallow and selfish character at first but I think there's more to him.
As someone who pre ordered and tried to stay away from reviews till I had played some I was shocked when I saw some having issues as I have had no major issues
The only one I had was I had to rescue a guy on a peer near the start there were 5 guards took out 3 but the other 2 spawned under the pear and water which was a helpful glitch
Overall I am like the game the loop is fun so far and I am 10ish hours in now
Not yet, I think I’ll buy it after it got a couple of more patch.
@roe
I really liked Mafia 3. Loved the style haha
Love fighting the freaker hordes the most and the story is actually intriguing.
@JJ2 I liked Mafia 3 as well, but the AI was awful.
Planning on getting this for my brother's Christmas present as it will've been patched loads by then and I know he'd enjoy this a lot more than me. After reading the review - NOTHING to do with the score, which was good! 😜 - then I think a combination of the survival stuff, having to deal with hordes of freakers on the fly, and the guns being sucky, makes it much less my kind of game, though I can definitely see myself borrowing this from my brother at some point next year for the gorgeous looking open world and the story. I'm also very pleased that it has sold so well 😀
My only gripe is that I've played about 20 hours and only seen 2 enemy types (apart from animals) the swarmers and newts, and one boss fight which was quite challenging
It's strange because I usually love open world third person adventure games but this does nothing for me and I really don't know why. I will probably play it sometime or another, maybe in a sale for about £6.99.
I bought it to support the new IP, but haven't played it, other than crashing my motorbike into some trees during the intro. I'll get to it though.
yep great game bit freaky killing the kid zombies jumped a few times when getting ambushed
I'm really enjoying it and its easily one of the better open world games on PS4. Fighting the zombies is exciting from clearing out the nests to tackling the horde with plenty of options on how to deal with them, including just attracting their attention so you can raid a tunnel in peace. I thought the bike would be annoying but I love it and it makes you really think about where to stop for supplies and how much combat you want to engage in whilst doing so. My only real complaints are the story is ok at best so far but does have some interesting aspects which I hope are fleshed out and menu's are poorly designed and I wonder how repetitive the game may feel after another 10 hours or so.
Overall though I'd say so far so good and the 7 seems about right in that it's a good score for a good game
I'm enjoying it! Sure it's not Last of Us or God of War but it's a damn fun game
I wasn’t going to get this, but after so many conflicting views/reviews I’ve decided to order it and make my own mind up
Not getting it, but it does remind me of those action films of the 80s. Bad acting, predictable story line, cheesy, one liners...
But I really like them, perhaps I will give it a go one day.
I bought it but then I saw that it scored only a 7 so I threw it down a drain
@Gremio108 Very wise. Best not to let anything rated below an 8 anywhere near your console. It could cause you irreparable mental damage. Or make your PS4 explode.
@Frigate I agree with you ....really enjoying this game. Gameplay is exciting and intense. ( In my opinion).
I did buy it. Really enjoying the game after a few hours, had a few glitches but I like the gameplay and exploration. Also, I really like how the bike is integrated into the game.
Oh hell yeahs! Loving the grind.
Offline single player campaign. Bliss
Gamer in my 40s been playing since the atari 5200. Old-school!
@Frigate
In Days Gone forum I posted a cool video if you have a few min.. The actors were free and even pushed to disregard their lines.
After this never buying another game again, complete trash can't even return this garbage.
I'll end up eventually tossing it in the toilet where it belongs!
What a hot mess!
I've got too many more appealing games in my PS4 backlog already.
Planning to pick this up during Holiday 2019 if I got any spare dough and it's $20-$25 New.
I have it but first i have to platinum Dragon Quest Heroes need to defeat 2 bosses.
Not got it yet but I do intend to as I do like zombie games. After I'm done with Sekiro I'm gonna jump back on Far Cry 5, I feel I need another game after to break up the open word games.
Days gone is just like rdr2 with zombies set in a farcry five world with peggies that have turned into zombies. Its also sons with a hint of the last of us. That's the best way to describe it not gtav style it's nothing alike gtav. It does stand alone compared to to wwz yet it's a slow build but the story and the jobs u do keep u going just as the rdr2 story did. I'm still under ten hours into it due to work but sekiro deserves game of the year so far. Anthem well I'll stop there, put that game down and swapped it for metro exodus. I have all rpgs and this one has grabbed me in just because of the bike. Deacon is relatable think jax from sons and a hint of batman in detective mode. The game will do well but it is over shadowed buy most titles that have bn released in the past year. People are stuck in oddesy or rdr2 or playing titles like the devison2 anthem or sekiro even gow is still being played with but me am many. I have all titles so won't be buying anymore until the ps5 comes out cyberpunk looks well so far, as does death stranding. But due to the time those games come out fingers crossed I've managed to play all those titles and exodus before than lol doubt it but hey who cares the ps4 is still more than relevant to some. Each to there own also, but il be playing days gone and rdr2 along with sekiro for the the time being. I'm just wanting a really good sci fi shooter like dead space to hurry up.
Pre-ordered it, didn't read a single review, and absolutely loving it. Took out my first Horde yesterday - took quite a while and was exhilarating!
@DragonSlayer1759 That bug is related to upgrading the bike exhaust. Go back to the standard one and the problem goes away.
@tatsumi I can't even get over the look of this guy so it's really a no buy for me.
really enjoying it 👍👍
1st game I’ve ever pre ordered. Played for a few hours, enjoying roaming around and doing stuff in random order...probably the wrong way to play but I care not..
It’s glitchy and I understand why some folks have a real problem with it. It’s certainly not what I expected. Saying that’s I’m about 10 hours in and have probably scratched the surface. Nevertheless, I see me spending a lot more time on this game. I’ve stumbled across some hordes and cleaned out bandit camps in which the AI is abysmal. I recon this will go on to better things and I’m sure I’ll be along for the long ride... I like apocalyptic zombie esque fiction.
Never played far cry or uncharted so this style of game is all newish to me..
Not getting why there's so many mediocre reviews for this game. It's not like every game needs to break the mold. It's enough to do something standard, but to a very high level (e.g. Horizon Zero Dawn). Days Gone is another feather in Sony's cap.
