And just like that, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered has a confirmed PlayStation 4 release date. It's coming in just a couple of weeks time on 3rd September, bringing with it a whole host of new features that will make playing the game itself a much better experience in 2019. It's priced at $19.99, and can be pre-ordered from the PlayStation Store right now.
The remastered version comes with enhanced visuals, a battle assist that'll max out your HP and ATB gauges at the push of a button, a no encounters option that allows you to explore freely without the fear of battle, and a 3x speed boost which quickens up the pace of the experience dramatically. These are the sorts of features we saw in Final Fantasy VII's remaster a couple of years back, and pre-ordering will net you a static theme on PS4.

I was a teenager when I first played FFVIII and it kind of opened my mind to what RPGs could be. At the time it was a really unique setting — all futuristic and surprisingly grounded, plus all the school stuff. I found it captivating at the time. I've played it again since, but I'm looking forward to doing so again.
Although having said all that, I really wish Square had taken the time to adjust the draw system for this remaster. Drawing magic from enemies is incredibly boring. At least the 3x speed will move it along faster.
FF VIII is a very special game for me. I don't want to go into too much detail, but I first played it during a very rough part of my lif and when I finished it for the first time, it left me so emotionally devastated that my mom had to take me to an emergency therapy session just to calm me down.
FFVII is my favorite in the series, as well as just my favorite game period, but I'll never forget what a profound effect this one had on me.
OH MY GOSH THAT'S SO SOON! HYYYYPPPPEEEEE!!! One of my favorite games of all time but I'll be getting the Switch version so it's portable. LET'S GOOOOOO!
I guess this means I have 2 weeks to beat Grandia II. Lol
@invictus4000 @ShogunRok @Enuo Over on the FF forum thread once this releases @FullbringIchigo and I are having a race to disc 2. You are more than welcome to join us!
@themcnoisy Dude that's epic! Hope you win. Haha. With my insanely busy life and a need to savor every second of this classic though, I would surely lose. Lol
Preordered it on Playasia retail ofcourse. 😆
Wow, that’s so soon! I didn’t realize it was around the corner.
Sooooooo many memories of this game. I remember the demo disc of the Dollet mission where you have Rinoa and she can summon Leviathan, which looked incredible for the time. The hype just built from there. When it finally came out, I loved how you could play around with it and break it, and how you could grind to mega powerful weapons and limit breaks, etc. I think I beat it like ten times or something.
My love for it is more tempered these days, but it is still love. Regardless of any criticism I can give it now, I really respect how it tries to be nothing else but itself. There is no other game quite like it, which can't be said for some of the more revered FF titles. The soundtrack is in the running for best in the series too, and I'd say it's the most distinctive too. Uematsu nailed the military feel. I have replaythroughs of both X and XIII that I need to finish up in time for this. It's been well over 15 years since I last played this, and I'm excited to revisit it.
Yeah man, i'm feeling it. And with trophy support, awww yeah.
Shame i'm literally leaving for Japan on the day it comes out, but, y'know, priorities and all that XD
@Enuo That's what it comes down to with these Final Fantasy games I think, sometimes its more about timing and what you played and when, versus the actual quality of the game.
I am totally excited to play this one again and I'm going to platinum it to death.
Pre-ordered the greatest game of all time! Didn’t get the theme yet though 😢
Still hoping for a physical release! 🤞
@ShogunRok yeah I was hoping for a “draw-all” cheat to be honest.
Sick. I can't wait. Wish it weren't so close to the Monster Hunter expansion though. I have only so much spare time
I never got around to playing FF8 so happy to see it's releasing soon!
